My favorite Alias character is Marshall Flinkman. Yeah, that's right, the nerd. That guy cracks me up.

I like all the other characters too, but Marshall is such a geek, I can't help but like him the best.

The Rambaldi Prophecy says: "This woman here depicted will possess unseen marks. Signs that she will be the one to bring forth my works. Bind them with fury. A burning anger, unless prevented. At vulgar cost, this woman will render the greatest power unto utter desolation." WHAT?

I think it is a device to make one eternal? Not sure? What I want to know is who the mole is! I think it's Weiss. Or Dr. Barnett....heh. Right now I'm thinking that Lauren is actually working in cohorts with Sydney....but hey, that's me. Rumors are now Lauren is pregnant with the 500 year old DNA and Sydney's eggs. Noooooooo!

I love Marshall! What an adorable geek!

O.K., I did my homework and went and read the plot synopis for all the episodes for season one and season two.

My eyes are about to fall out of their sockets after all that reading. I will probably forget most of it.

Anyhow, I saved everything said about the Rimbaldi device or artifact or text. I may post it here later, I didn't write it up, it's parts of the synopis that I found on the web.

Anyhow, from all the clues, it has to be some sort of time machine thing going on here. Sydneys image being in the 500 year old book. Either she goes back in time and meet Rimbaldi, or Rimbaldi is alive now and knows her (Sloan, maybe?) and he goes back in time somehow.

As for the long life part, I am not sure about that.

Well, anyway, that's my screwball theory. If I would have known their was so much science fiction in this series, vrs. just plain CIA cloak and dagger, I would have watched it from season one.

Alias Fan, I am not sure what you meant by the Passenger.

The prophechy seems to say that Sydney will destroy the Rimbaldi device in the future, so watch out for her.

Hey, Alias Fan, post some links to those places you are going to, to read about Alias......I want to read some of that stuff.

post #6  quote:

Aight, I copied and pasted it here. These are excepts from the synopsis I found on the net, I just put in the parts about the Rimbaldi device. It jumps from episode to episode, so it reads a little discordantly.

Sloane tells Sydney that the device she brought from Taipei is still being analyzed. All they are sure of is that it was designed by a man named Milo Rembaldi in the 1400's.
Rembaldi apparently also designed some objects that look like transistors. Sydney and Dixon are skeptical, but Sloane shows them a code written by Rembaldi that resembles machine code. Sydney asks if it has been decoded, and Sloane says they don't have all of it. The rest is written on the back of a sketch of Rembaldi's that is owned by a collector named Edouardo Benegas in Madrid. SD6 had tried to buy the sketch, but it was suddenly withdrawn, as though he had been tipped as to its true value. SD6 also learned that a key has been stolen from Benegas, possibly by a "K" directorate operative. Sydney: "It was Ana, wasn't it?"

Marshall reports that if they try to open the case without the actual key, everything inside the box will be destroyed. .
Ana pulls out the key. Sydney lays the case down on the ground. Ana inserts the key and opens the box. Both Ana and Sydney go wide-eyed in either shock or surprise. Sydney: "Oh, my god."

Scenes from last week's episode, culminating in the moment when Sydney and Ana open the case. The case has apparently been rigged with a trap that saturates the paper the code is written on with a liquid that causes it to disintegrate. Ana and Sydney both start memorizing the sequence of 1's and 0's. When the paper is gone, Sydney turns to Ana: "Did you get it?" Ana: "Did you?" They both turn and run in opposite directions.

Sloane says the code Sydney recovered has been deciphered. At first they thought it indicated Athens, but nothing pertaining to Rembaldi -- author of the code -- was found there. Marshall says the code really indicates Malaga, Spain. Sydney is to go there to a 500-year-old church. The only other clue is a Spanish phrase that means "golden sun".

Sydney goes to Spain and finds the church. At the back of the sanctuary is a stained glass mosaic with a golden sun in the center. Sydney removes the center of the sun. It is a disk of what appears to be metal.

Sloane says the disk Sydney brought from Spain is made of a synthetic polymer even though it is over 500 years old. It is a mystery they haven't solved yet. .

Sloane tells Sydney that the encoded messages revealed the location of a Rembaldi artifact in Tunisia. The FTL had apparently removed the artifact from the dig site and, not really knowing what they had, had turned it over for study at Oxford University. Sydney is to attend a reception there posing as a grant candidate recruiter and try to get the artifact.

Sloane briefs Sydney on the artifact she recovered from the Oxford lab. It is a clock designed by a Giovanni Donato, who was the only person Milo Rembaldi ever collaborated with.

Marshall feels that the clock may be hiding some other information or function, but he can't figure out what it is. Sydney is to take the clock to a descendant of Donato's, who is also a clockmaker, and see if e can fix it. Act II Sydney goes to Positano and takes the clock to the elderly Signor Donato.

He is reluctant to even let her in until she mentions Rembaldi's name, and then he opens the door and motions her inside. . Donato tells Sydney that his ancestor made the clock for Rembaldi because Rembaldi made him a promise -- that he would live "an impossibly long life." Rembaldi apparently even predicted the day he would die. Sydney asks if he was right, and Donato says yes, he was. Sydney notices a strange symbol on the clock, and Donato says it is the symbol of the Magnific Order of Rembaldi -- a group of his followers dedicated to safeguarding his inventions. He says that unfortunately crime figures have infiltrated the organization.

As Donato and Sydney talk, Ana Espinosa and two other K-directorate agents are entering his apartment building. On the roof of an adjacent building, a sniper has Sydney in his sights. Sydney asks Donato about the date on the clock, and Donato says, "He never did tell me what it meant." Sydney is startled at this statement, since Rembaldi lived centuries ago, and Donato says he meant someone else. He says that the clock will now tell time, but there is still a piece missing from it. The sniper radios Ana that the clock is now working. She says to kill Sydney when he has a clear shot. Sydney wants to know what else Rembaldi was working on. Donato says, "The clock is fixed. Now it's over." He stands up just as the sniper fires and takes the bullet meant for Sydney. She sees that he is dead and grabs the clock and runs.

At their next briefing, Marshall reports that the golden sun disk that Sydney recovered in Malaga fits into the clock. When the clock is set at a certain time, the disk reveals a star chart. If they use the date on the back of the clock -- August 16, 1523 -- then the only place on earth with that exact view of the stars is on the southern slope of Mt. Aconcagua. Sydney and Dixon are to go there and find out if Rembaldi stored something there.
.

After a short search, she locates a large vault. Opening it, she sees an old leather bound book. It's Rembaldi's journal. She begins photographing the pages, but gets a frantic radio message from Dixon: ""They're here!

Scenes from previous episodes, culminating with Sydney and Vaughn retrieving the Rembaldi artifact that Cole took from the SD-6 vault.
Vaughn gives Sydney a camera to photograph the Rembaldi book with before handing it over to SD-6. The CIA believes the book to be an instruction manual of some sort, but to what, they don't know. . He tells her that some of the Rembaldi pages have been decoded, but there is one page that is blank, numbered 47.

They need the original. Jack is going to try and get that page and substitute a counterfeit, but hasn't managed it yet.
Sydney meets with Vaughn and Jack, who tell her that Sloane took the Rembaldi book home with him and is planning to send it to Germany for decoding. The switch of page 47 must take place tonight. . She will plant a fake page in place of the real page 47 and smuggle the real thing out.

. Sloane takes Sydney to the study to show her the book. He tells her it's being sent to England for decoding.
Vaughn is told that the CIA techs have figured out how to read the Rembaldi manuscript. Vaughn looks at it with a strange expression on his face and says to cancel all his meetings. He calls Sydney, and she comes to meet him. He tells her how they used the vial of liquid that Cole took from the SD-6 vault, and it made the ink on the blank page show up. He shows her the page. It's a drawing of her. Sydney just looks at it with a stunned expression on her face.

Scenes from previous episodes, culminating with Sydney faced with a portrait of herself from the 500-year-old book by Milo Rambaldi.
In Washington, D.C., at a Senate subcommittee meeting, a Dr. Evans is asking for funds regarding the investigation of Sydney Bristow. She references the picture from Rambaldi's notebook and the partially decoded text surrounding it. After reading it, the Senators agree to provide whatever Dr. Evans needs.
Rambaldi's page 47 is now being referred to as "the Prophecy".
Vaughn is there, too, and Sydney looks to him for an explanation. He tells her that the government had the correct key to start with.

He says Rambaldi had noted three specific physical ways to identify the woman in the portrait -- DNA sequencing, platelet levels, and heart size. Sydney matches all three. Sydney asks again what the prophecy is, and this time Dr. Evans quotes it to her: "This woman here depicted will possess unseen marks, signs that she will be the one to bring forth my works, bind them with fury. A burning anger, unless prevented, at vulgar cost this woman will render the greatest power unto utter desolation."

Vaughn studies the prophecies of Rambaldi and finds that the description of the mysterious woman in the portrait includes the fact that the effect she has will take place before she sees Mt. Sebacio. He summons Jack and shows him the prophecy. They decide that if they could get Sydney to Mt. Sebacio, it would negate the prophecy.

Kendall asks what SD-6's priority is, and Sydney replies that, at the moment, it's Rambaldi. She repeats what she knows of him -- he was Pope Alexander VI's chief architect, but his designs and inventions were so advanced that he was executed as a heretic. And now many -- including the entire intelligence world -- believe him to be a prophet as well. They assume he had some sort of master plan involving an as yet unspecified device. Everyone wants to be the first to discover what it was. Kendall says he has just one more question -- does Sydney believe Rambaldi was a prophet? Sydney: "Do you?"

Sydney is a little perturbed at what the others have done. She knows the FBI will now assume she is guilty of some wrongdoing. Jack explains that once they get her to Mt. Sebacio, they will notify all agencies, and she will no longer be suspect. Sydney is not so sure. She wants to know what if Rambaldi was right. Jack replies that if that turns out to be the case, then everything is already predetermined and nothing they do will make any difference. .

Sydney changes into a disguise in the trunk. Through a transmitter, she asks Vaughn if he even considered the possibility that Rambaldi could be right. He says no, he believes in her.
She reminds Jack of the details of Rambaldi's prophecy -- the DNA sequencing, etc.-- things she inherited from her mother. She knows the prophecy can't refer to her, so "Mom's alive -- I know it."

. The next scene shows Sydney climbing Mt. Sebacio in Italy. When she reaches the summit, she calls the FBI to tell them where she is.
Sloane shows the team a schematic of a supercomputer that Khasinau was supposedly using to assemble the Rambaldi artifacts he had and extrapolate the missing pieces. He wants Sydney and Noah to steal the data core from that computer. . .
Jack goes to the CIA vault and gets the Rambaldi ampule.
When Sydney comes back ashore with the Rambaldi page, Dixon is waiting for her. He tells her he heard her use a different code name on Mt. Aconcagua.

Sydney and Jack use the solution to expose the Rambaldi page. It shows a diagram of the device that Sydney originally stole in Taipei. Jack says that intelligence learned that Khasinau has been searching for something called "the circumference", which would tell him how to apply Rambaldi's technology. They realize that this page must be the circumference. Jack tells Sydney to keep the page safe and not to go home.
Sydney goes to see Irina and asks her about Sark. Irina says he is looking for a Rambaldi music box that has an equation for zero-energy (a fuel source) encoded in the notes it plays.
Sydney reports to Sloane that, even though Sark got it, the music box was apparently corroded and therefore useless. Sloane is skeptical that Rambaldi would have allowed this to happen. Sydney: "Another Rambaldi mystery."
Vaughn reports that the recording Sydney made of the music the box played is at Langley being decoded. Sydney says the intel her mother gave was good again.

. There they tell her that the Rambaldi device in Taipei may have contained the virus. If so, both she and Vaughn were exposed. They want to do tests.
.
Jack frees Sydney from her cell. He tells her what Irina said -- that they are using the nuclear cores to activate a Rambaldi device, one which supposedly proves Rambaldi's theory of "endless life". Apparently, they are not going to activate the nukes at all.
Kendall orders Sydney and Jack to pull out, because the Indian planes are in the air headed their way. They refuse, saying they will not leave without Irina. They find Irina and Cuvee watching as they begin activating the Rambaldi artifact -- a large sphere. Suddenly the sphere opens and they see that it contains a flowering plant of some sort.
Sydney asks Vaughn about the flower. He says that preliminary reports indicate that the flower is 400-600 years old.
.
. They speculate that Sloane would want Caplan, who is an expert in a certain field of geometry, to put the Rambaldi artifacts together.
Sloane tells Caplan about Rambaldi and his prophecies and that he wants Caplan to help him assemble all of the Rambaldi artifacts.
Irina says Karpachev had a Rambaldi manuscript, but sold it to a man named Shtuka, who is a former contact of hers. She says the Rambaldi ms is his study of the human heart.
. Jack speculates that Sloane has some sort of personal connection to Rambaldi. Irina says she was obsessed with Rambaldi, too, and never understood how Jack kept from being caught up in it. Jack: "I had something neither of you did." Irina nods: "Sydney." As Jack is leaving, Irina thanks him "for raising our daughter."

Jack introduces NSA Director Brandon and his assistant Carrie Bowman, who are studying Rambaldi and his prophecies. Agent Bowman asks Marshall if he has a presentation to make, and Marshall stutters even more than usual as he complies. He shows the pages of Rambaldi's heart studies, pointing out that there are notes in the margin which turned out to be specific DNA strands. The DNA info has has been matched to a man living in Panama named Proteo DiRegno. It has also been used to translate some of Rambaldi's prophecies, most of which have already taken place. One date, however, is for 48 hours hence, but there is no indication as to what will happen then. A team is to go to Panama and bring DiRegno back.
Marshall says DiRegno never had a heart transplant or an artificial heart. He wonders what all this might have to do with Rambaldi's "doomsday prophecy". Marshall makes a reference to Carrie, and Sydney picks right up on his use of her first name, which flusters Marshall.
.
Sloane reaches a monastery on the mountaintop. He tells the monks he needs to see Conrad. Conrad recognizes him. Sloane pulls out his gun and makes it clear that it was Conrad who sent him on the quest for Rambaldi 30 years ago and made him "abandon the CIA and betray everyone I ever loved."
At the monastery, Conrad shows Sloane a scroll of Rambaldi's. Conrad: "Your journey has just begun."
Kendall is exasperated with Brandon and the NSA for not telling them about the raid in Nevada. Brandon is defensive but confirms that 24 Rambaldi artifacts were stolen in the raid.
Jack is strapped to a cot while Sloane describes the Rambaldi device he is assembling now that he has all the pieces. It's called "The Telling." Jack says he used to pity Sloane that he needed Rambaldi to fill the void in his life.
Irina says Sloane believes he has been chosen to realize Rambaldi's work. But she says that Sydney has been chosen, too: "It's you in the prophecy, Sydney, not me." She says Sydney is the only one who can stop him. Then Irina says "I love you" and falls over the edge.

Sloane identifies the tattoo as signifying membership in the Society of Rambaldi
Marshall shows Sydney what was in the box. It's a small vial of human tissue. The name etched inside is Milo Rambaldi.

Scenes from previous episodes, culminating with Marshall showing Sydney what was inside the cube she found in Graz -- the human tissue of Milo Rambaldi.
The team with the cube was ambushed and now the Covenant has the cube, along with Rambaldi's DNA.

Kendall tells Sydney that the Covenant believes her to be the "Chosen One", about whom the Rambaldi prophecy was written.

In a lab, overseen by Sark, technicians extract the Rambaldi DNA and add it to test tubes with the name "Sydney Bristow" on it.

whidden, in the last episode "Disclosure" when Lazarey is in the ambulance he asks Sydney if she knows about the passenger and Sydney says, "the passenger??" and then they get to the hospital and the sniper (who is Lauren) apparently blows him away. You know how no one ever stays dead long on Alias so who knows if Lazarey is really dead! On the discussion forums for Alias, some people think the "passenger" is the carrier for the Rambaldi DNA and Sydney's eggs...i.e., a surrogate mother! I thought it was referring to Weiss on the airplane...a possible mole? Who knows?

These are my favorite Alias forums. Rabid fans found there along with the latest "spoiler" news....

Over the holidaze I caught up with all of Season 1 & 2 so I'm prepared for anything...but lemme tell you, I am one confused fan! It is great to have a show that does nothing but confound you. LOL.

Last nights show was really good. I liked the small role played by the guy who was the Mummy in The Mummy.
