I think that the purpose of Revolutions was to shift our focus from the Matrix to Zion.
Think about it. Through the trilogy, we had two main problems:
1. The destruction of the Matrix
2. The destruction of Zion
In the end of Revolutions, we get a sense, or at least I did, that the Matrix is, for the time being, back to normal and even better than before. The green tint is no longer there, we get a beautiful sunrise, and the Architect says something about people still plugged in being released, if they wish it.
The Matrix is now balanced, and no longer under the threat of being destroyed by Smith.
But what about problem number 2?
Though we see a "peace" between the machines and Zion, the problem is not really solved.
First of all, the machines still hold the upper hand, and always will. Zion's defenses are disabled temporarily from the EMP, leaving them vulnerable to an attack at any time. The machines have no reason or advantage from keeping there end of the bargain, and all we have to go on is their "word" that they won't attack, which we get a hint that they will keep it when the Architect implies that programs keep there word.
But anyway, I don't think it will be the machines that break the truce, but the people of Zion.
When they stop rejoicing and begin rebuilding, burying their mangled corpses, they will have a pretty good reason to be pissed. Not to mention the fact that they're living in a hell hole underground. I'm sure to them they feel, though saved from destruction, that they got the short end of the stick.
Maybe there won't be another full out war, but definitely diplomatic quests to go back to the surface and maybe a society where humans and machines live together again.
But there will definitely be some form of further conflict, whether just verbal or physical. The humans definitely will not be happy after they come to realize that the truce is not so good and happy with colorful rainbows and unicorns as it seems to be.
I'd like to hear from you guys, because I know that several other people think there will be more wars. But also I'd like to hear from the people who don't agree with this, just to get maybe another theory or idea.
Really? I never noticed this? I'll have to check it out
As for your belief, that the truce will not last is a good one. War has existed since the creation of man and of course since the creation of machine. It will always exist and cannot be stopped, it is inevitable. Animals fight to survive and we are also animals. Charles Darwin explained it all. I’m kind of getting off topic but you get were I’m going. I also believe that the truce will not last after Revolutions and more will happen to the story. The Wachowskis said that the story had been told, but I don’t necessarily agree. They are still alive and so are the machines. I think they meant that the journey of our hero, Neo, is the story that has been told and will end in the 3rd film. The more I think about it the more I realize that it was kind of a hint. Also we have to remember that one of the main characters, Morphues, is still alive and he will be getting busy with Niobe making some more little Zionites.
The chances of war again cannot be denied, but if human think properly and takem account the past. Then returing to the surface and avoiding the war will be possible.
"If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas."
War can always go on, however just because its a matrix it doesnt have to be an endless cycle... it is possible for there not to be war, afterall its not like there is a magical force compelling them to always be in conflict... and its unrealistic to believe the status quo will remain as such for hundreds of thousands of years, something will have to change.
Also yes, no green tint at the end that was present through all the matrix scenes of the movie, the sky was beautiful and the entire scene was shot in a different tint... a natural more vibrant tint.
I don't believe that another war is going to happen.
The entire story is depicting "the end of the reboot cycle".
Over and over "the One" is realized, but the story of Neo is the story of the "One" that ended the cycle.
In the 4th movie they're going to destroy the Matrix. There will be a 4th. Mark my words.
"Do you believe you're fighting for something, for more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is, do you even know? Is it freedom or truth, perhaps peace - could it be for love? Illusions, Mr. Anderson, vagaries of perception. Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose."
There will be no more stargate seasons... direct quote. End of season 5...6...7...
So long as theres money to be made we can be safe in the knowledge that there will be someone making some kind of sequel or prequel at some stage in the future .
I would like to see more movies but ONLY if they are super-well written and add something to the trilogy that we couldn't have predicted. I would like some answer of precisely what happened to neo and if there is MWM or not. I'm hoping these answers may be in the commentaries to be included in the box set - that would satisfy me without another movie though.
Stargate rocks!
The funniest music video in the world is Eminem - Without Me, when Elvis is sitting on the toilet, reaches in and pulls out a sandwich and eats it - where did that come from? roflmao
MWM can never be answered because even on screen canon can be ignored... I mean they pretty much debunked it in revolutions with their explanation of Neos powers outside the matrix, made no hint or mention of something that would mean that there would be a MWM and everything that happened can easily be simply without MWM etc...
So long as people want to believe what they want to believe there will be MWM... kind of like people could say were in a matrix now and theres nothing to prove were not so hey, whatrever floats their boat.
Another matrix movie might be hard work for the fans . But we will soon have The Matrix Online to gratify us .

matrix_fan_07 said this in post #10 : u know, as much as i loved the matrix, i really dont want there to be another one...i mean, its over...you kow?
AMEN! The three movies were made, story was told. Look for maybe another set of Animatrix shorts, updates on the website, and some more comics...but not another feature film. That would be awful. Even if it was great to us fans in terms of explaining things, it would require a whole string of scenes like the architect scene, and the critics/general public would rip it apart - not that i'd care, but the studio has to believe it will be released.
There are so many great religious and philosophical references in these three movies...we should focus on that, not with our love affair with the characters, no matter how tempting. It's not really about the roles, but about the big picture.

Cue rave music again, more half naked people dancing.
