distribution sources.. help please post #1  quote:

I have recently designed and opened a site for selling dvds. I have the packaging, the licenses, and the starting cash to start this business the only thing is i dont have any dvds.

I have found a few distribution companies that carry the things i want, they are just wholesale though and are asking to much.

I would love it if somebody could link me up, or a telephone # i could call to get in touch with serious dvd and game distributors.

thank you

May I ask an obvious question, without you feeling insulted? Why did you open a business without having a product? Although it's great to have business dream, have you asked yourself:

1. Do I have a service or product ready to sell, or do I need to obtain these before opening for business?
2. Who are my competitors and can I compete with them?
(You are up against Blockbuster, Amazon.com, and a few other big names)
3. Am I ready to open for business?

Although you have a catchy slogan in your signature, do you realize if you can't live up to it, people will mark you and advertise not to do business with you?

Now that you're open, you may want to consider starting off being a reseller for your competition. The only problem with this, is their websites and brand names are already well known, and why would someone go to your site when they can go to theirs?

What you might want to consider is selling used DVDs for people. Kind of like ebay, but restricted to DVDs. Offer everyone you know a price for their unused DVDs, then resell them on your site for less than your competitors. You won't have the overhead they do, so you should be able to get a fair price for them.

Another thing to find distributors, try search engines.

Since my current emplyment is website design, it wasn't ahrd for me to design the site.

Money is not a problem, and I have a lot of patience to find the best products, at the best price.

THE BUSINESS ISN'T EVEN OPEN YET.

I would never open a business without a product. If i wanted to i could go to some of the uorces i found and do business with them. I just wanted to wait it out and try to find help elsewere to see if there are more choices available.

Search engines flat out don't work for finding reliable distributors for entertainment products.

One last thing, the idea of used dvds has come across my path quite a few times, but when it is all said and done, there jjust isn't enough profit coming in from them.

Thanks for your time, and response.

The above statement gave me the idea you had opened it for business. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Why wouldn't a used DVD store make a profit? People buy them from rummage sales, so why not online?
