What software was used for the CGI??

I'm interested in what CGI software was used in the creation of the effects of the matrix, like the burly brawl and the hovercraft sequences.

I know that in Reloaded, the effects looked fake, especially when slowed down. Still, I charge that shortcoming to the artists and maybe time constraints, not so much the software, which for me is where the real interest lies...

Anyone have info on this, please share!

A whole deal of software was used. Lightwave may have been used for modelling but the main software was Maya. Rendering was done in Mental Ray or PRMan.
