Parrots post #1  quote:

This is my Blue & Gold Macaw. Her name is Aurora and she has a vocabulary that's so cute. She given to me by her former owners because they travel so much. I agreed to babysit her while they were away, and they never came back :-(. She had a hard time for about the first month but she got attached to me. As you can see in this photo she was a feather plucker. She no longer does that and she's calmed down. I've had her over a year now.

She use to hate the color green and wouldn't eat veggies, but she does now. Her favorite is a collard green stem.

If she gets in trouble and I tell her not to do something she says "No!"

She puts her wings up and says "Big wings!"

She says peek-a-boo

If she's eating something that she likes she says "mmmmmmmmmm good!"

Other words:

Whatcha doing?
How's that?
Apple
Cookie
Cracker
Peanut
Row row (she's practicing row row your boat)

When I do vocal lessons, she starts going: me me me me me me me me, and la la la la la la

We have two dogs that we have gotten to speak, so now she does this (so does our other parrot)

"Speak! speak! rooooof good girl!"

When you sing, she makes her foot go like a conductor directing a choir. She also does this when she's given something good to eat, or if you're making noises she likes.

She sounds like so much fun!!! Who needs a roommate when you have a macaw around!!!

I'm so happy to hear that she is doing better with you in the picture, since featherplucking can be so devestating to their personality and physical being!!!

Oh Kooka... she's sooooooo cute. I'm glad that you have to, and you're loving her back to health. You're a good "mommy" for her.

She is absolutely beautiful, Kooka.

It sounds like she has quite a personality and your home must be a really warm and fun place, especially when Aurora and the pups are all speaking at once

During the times when everyone is speaking at once... I disappear to my office, which is located far far away from them.

We have 2 Blue & Golds, 1 sun conure, 1 senigal (sp?) 2 iguanas, 2 dogs, 1 other type parrot, 2 finches, 4 parakeets, 7 cockatiels, 1 taranchula, goldfish, 3 ducks, 4 geese, and a partridge in a pear tree.

And as of yesterday, one kitten I rescued from the baseball field.

I have learned to hate Dominos pizza commercials. They have a doorbell ring, which sets off the dogs, which sets off the parrots.

Large Parrot Cages post #7  quote:

Parrots are such wonderful companions especially when they talk back to you in your own language, they can care for their owner just as their owners care for them. They can also keep owner mental health in check because relating with an object such as a talking Parrot allows for communication.

Your Parrots are good examples.
