Did you see the previews about him? I'm pretty sure it was him sitting on the ground with everything exposed, and I mean everything! They had to bleep it out.
One set of clothes for over a month.... guess you have to wash them some time huh?

Yep, I'm pretty sure it was Rupert ... in fact I believe he said he was "wearing a skirt" and that would fit with something I read.
Each tribe was given about $100 (local currency) to buy supplies in a island village after swimming to shore.
Christa ripped off the bottom half of her skirt and gave it to Rupert to tie around his nakedness because they had no clothes and their tribe neglected to buy beach clothes and bug spray.
Still -- there is nothing under Rupert's skirt and ... um ... let's just say OUCH !!!!!

Hey! How come you know about this when it hasn't even aired yet? Unfair advantage?
The September 6-12 TV Guide, the hard copy mag, had what they called a "sneak peek" at a couple of shows. That's where I read it.
I think by unfair advantage you meant because they gave them money to buy supplies ?
.......................
Paraphrasing a portion of the TV guide article ...
Producer Mark Burnett instructed the contestants to dress up for a big "party" aboard a 3-masted schooner. Some of the guys are in armani suits and the women in cocktail dresses and high-heels. Just as they are relaxing, Jeff Probst orders them to walk the plank taking nothing but the clothes on their back. They have to jump 15 feet into the ocean ( sharks !) and swim a half-mile to an island village. Each tribe is allowed to spend 100 balboa (about $100) on supplies.
The article mentions that Drake tribe bought chicken, beans, rice and 4 jugs of wine ... but no clothes or bug spray ... It doesn't say what supplies the Morgan tribe bought.
According to Burnett "it "really is like if a ship went down".
.......................
As to the "unfair advantage" question ... at this point, It seems to me that them having native currency in the "clothes on their back" and access to the village, villagers, and supplies may partially negate the producers "stranded" premise.
We'll just have to watch and see. I can't wait !!!!

Nope.. I meant a Survivor fan having a sneek preview! I don't get the TV Guide, so who's fault is this? Looking innocent as I can!

Awesome!! I was wondering why there were all dressed up. What a twist!

I love it! This is going to be the best one yet.

The others were within 10 minutes of a town too, so this doesn't surprise me.

I don't subscribe ... Saw that there was a "sneak peek" and bought it. It was at the supemarket check-out ... and they got me with their point-of-purchase marketing tactic

Yes ... BUT ... if the producers were trying for a twist that was more equivalent to really being stranded ... as said, this having local money and supply purchase thing somewhat compromises their premise and slightly destroys the illusion.
ALL the other survivors were given start-up food/supplies. The real difference and survivor "test" is how the tribes spend their stipends and how wise and survivorlike their purchases are and how serve them in the game. I wonder who did the choosing of items ? Were they team decisions or did did some
know-it-all individuals emerge early on ?
Drake's mistake. They should have traded a couple of jugs of wine for some bug spray and maybe cloth or footwear ?
So ... we'll have the "fun" of watching them suffer their omissions and decisons. If someone is responsible for a bad decision we shall perhaps see their early departure ?
Being walking mosquito venom depositories could hurt Drake in the comps.
Of course, the article says Morgan is having a loyalty feud early on and also, that they reportedly set up camp right on the beach in the blisteringly HOT tropical sun. Wonder if they bought sunscreen ?

Rupert!!! What the heck were you thinking? I know someday you will most likely find this forum, and read our thoughts, so here is my message to you.
How could you steal from the village natives? You mentor troubled teens and they are most likely watching you on TV. What kind of an example are you setting for them?
It doesn't matter if pirates stole. #1.. you aren't a pirate #2...If you were a pirate, it's still wrong to steal #3...It was wrong for the pirates to steal.
Those merchants are poor, and work extremely hard for the money they make. I have been to places where villagers sell their goods and make $5.00 US dollars a day if that much.
You stuffed your pockets and encourage other tribe members to do the same. I really hope you set the troubled teens straight and tell them that's not proper.
You don't get my vote.
Did anyone catch who else stole? I was on the phone and didn't get to see everyone that hid things. I saw Rupert, then he bragged about it.
Kooka... I didn't see Rupert steal from the natives. He was sitting there with their little boat of shoes, and the Morgan team dropped their boat there and just left... like it was his responsibility to watch their stuff. Anyway... he grabbed the shoes... dress ones, of the other team and traded (barded) for things on the island. Yes, he stole from the other team... but not the islanders. He handed John (Mr. I think that I'm funny... but I'm making a butt of myself) a pair of the opposite teams shoes, and told him where he got them. John put them in his shirt, so if the other team saw him, they wouldn't know he had their shoes.
I think that it was sooooooooooooooooooooo funny what Rupert did...

I loved how Rubert went out and tried getting fish for the entire team. Not just one fish for them all. He really gave out the effort, and I hope that it's appreciated. He thought of everyone... not just himself.
I loved watching that part when Christa cut up her dress and gave him a skirt. Those pants would have torn his inner thighs apart... and he wouldn't have been worth a hill of beans in a couple days.

I have to go back and look at the tape. What I saw was shoes from the villagers.
Regardless... he shouldn't steal from anyone. I guess I was just raised differently. That really bothers me that he did that.

KJ is correct. The other team left their dress shoes untended and he took them and bartered with the villagers for other goods. One thing he did brag about trading "a pair of mis-matched shoes" for something.

I too was raised differently but it didn't bother me for a couple of reasons. I read that beforehand they had some survival "training" and also were inculcated with the fact that this was a Pirate game setting. So ... first, it is a game and really no different than any other game. This was not stealing or cheating at THIS game, but rather part of how they were told this game is to be played.
So ... Rupert was playing the game, following the rules of this game and thinking in Pirate mode. A master stroke in my opinion.
I like him.
