Now, on a serious note, one would never take both at the same time. Morpheus gives a person a CHOICE. Red or blue. The significance is not within the pills but within the choice... and with a choice, you have to pick one... you can't have both.
but now that you brought us back on topic, i think you nailed it. i was so busy trying to think of what would actually happen, (eventually ending where i did) i completely got away from the heart of the matter: choice.

interesting idea. coming at this thread from the opposite direction.
if neo refused to choose i think morpheus would have summarily dismissed neo as the one and killed him to prevent him from compromising them in any way.

OK... well I don't think Morpheus would kill Neo... but maybe give him the blue pill if he took too long and put everyone in danger. Remember, the agents are looking for both Neo and Morpheus, so time is critical.
Neo choose the red pill. But if he woulda taken both it just woulda jumped to the end of M2. Neo would have matrix like powers in the real world, right?

i always thought that the blue pill would be some kind of memory eraser, so if you took it - you'd wake up not remembering what happened the night before.
so by my reasoning - you take both - you wake up outside of the matix - wondering what the smegging hell just happened - and why your bed is now goo.

That's exactly what I was thinking... but remember, the blue pill also alters your perception of the Matrix ("You'll wake up IN YOUR BED and believe whatever you want.") It doesn't make you forgett something, it completely erases those events from your past. (as far as the Martrix is concerned, anyway). That said, the red pill might not function if the blue pill was having its effects on someone.
