I'm watching. I think it is terrible how they have made these people have to turn on each other and then live in the same house, but all in all, I guess I am somewhat addicted.

I really like the comedic value of Ralphie, Dat and Dave (too bad he is gone now). All the back stabbing and mightier than thou attitudes have got to go though, because it really turns me off.

Where will the last comic be standing ? post #4  quote:

Ok ... what is Dats' appeal ?

Is it his youth, physicality or because he was a little risque ?

Of course, Jeff just pandered to the audience and his "big" closing line about just holding all the stuff after shopping is an old, worn out joke. If I have heard it before I imagine most of the audience had heard it in some form too, and knew where he was going.

Last night I knew Dat would win because of all the urination reference -- Maybe it is that men relate and women are baffled when men take this stand ?

I like the show too.

I think they probably set it up this way, with the challenges and living together because they thought in itself it would have some comedic value and in a way it does.

I think it is super funny that Dave really does think Dat is a little nutz Dave was my favorite and I missed the show where he was ousted ! I almost thought that Dat and Dave would have been the final two !

Now that Dat has trumped 2 in a row, he has a good chance of winning or becoming overly confident and losing.
Cory doesn't seem to be a contender, not sure about Don though I would love to see him trounce Dat just because Need to see more of Ralphie, and the jury is still out on Tess with her Oprah-esque persona.

Don has that stereotypical New Yawk attitude ... but I would love to see Don v. Dat with Don coming out the winner just "because" and sort of as one for the old team if you know what I mean ?

Do you have a favorite or a prediction ?

The only real contenders on that show is Tess and Ralphie.

Dat is cool to watch, but he is nuts. Nearly all comedians are mentally unbalanced.
I also need to see more of Tess. Ralphie does rock the mike. Tess is commercially perfect.

America loves a fat guy, and a funny big Black girl.(not too big!) Dat is kinda in the middle. He is alright, but is act is kind of all Chinese stuff. I just want to hear some jokes. I can see that he is Asain. I don't think he needs to rub it in on every joke.

His goofy Chinese accent was really irritating. But he toned it down a bit for his second battle.

So ... post #8  quote:

any predictions, favorites,. comments on tonights show ?

I know I will be in the minority, but I thought both Tess and Dat were horrible ... just not funny, and I found them both a little offensive.

Dat's material was mostly downright stupid.

Tess' was too much of a bad thing and demeaning. I did not find it funny to picture her wearing a thong backwards.

Don and Cory I thought did a fine job.

Don does seem a little rusty, but his style/delivery is "old school" and I think he would do well with audiences that are a little older.

Cory surprised me with some good material, but she'd lose some of the males. Women will better appreciate her humor.

Ralphie was great, if a little redundant .

He was funny and chose topical humor that will appeal to just about anyone.
I also found it funny to visualize him as a parachutist coming down on the oil barons ... quite a secret weapon

Ralphie should win.

Who's Don? post #9  quote:

I am not sure who Don is? As for the final five, Rich Vos came out as the most talented. He is the Veteran, but he is the best. Tess would be really great for t.v. As for jokes, she didn;t have a lot. But she is a good actor.

Ralphie really disappointed me. I thought he was a funny guy. Last night all he did was complain. He wined about rich White people complaining about things and protesting... and then he turned into angry White man! He was all about the war! Not a single joke. I never laughed once. He yelled and screamed for his whole routine. On the same subject. War! and Oil. Sure America will give him lots of votes because he is obviously tapping into that pro-war group. But I don't find war funny...

Dat was too much about his Mother.
Cory was very, very good.

I hope Rich or Tess win. Cory was great but I just get such a bitter feel from her, that I don't care to see her again.

Everybody was good last night, though some, better than others.

Ralphie capitolized on the political agenda, which I found uncharacteristic of him. I found him funny but I was also quite shocked at times.

Dat made me laugh a little, but definitely not his best performance.

Tess had a couple good laughs, but mostly made me just listen.

Rich was the most genuine out of everybody and didn't quite make me hysterical, but was very interesting.

Cory out of everybody, made me laugh the most, but with only one joke. The rest of the time was disappointing for me.

If the audience responce gives any indication as to how America is going to vote, I think Ralphie will be the winner, as the audience kept chanting his name on two seperate occasions.

I personally don't care who wins. They all deserve it.

All these guys need to watch some old Bob Hope skits about timing, playing tot he audience and when to move on to the next joke.

Ralphie just kept going on that one subject to try and milk it for what it's worth. I was glad when he was done.

Dat had it down the other 2 times I saw him but seemed like he was a bit off this performance. I think he could have gotten away with redoing one of his other performances.

Tess again that timing thing, how long of a visual do we need of a lap dance. I was almost ready to turn the channel.

"The Don" I think he was just glad it was all over, I don't think he had his heart in it anymore.

Corey and Rich just didn't do it for me again it just seemed like their timing was off.

I think it's going to be between Ralphie and Dat and I think that Dat just might inch out Ralphie. If the voters watched the other shows then I think Dat will get it. Let's face it, the kid is funny, weird but funny.

Who's Don ---- ??? post #12  quote:

"The Don" is actually Rich Vos. Sorry for confusion

Agree with Ron about the comedians lacking a sense of timing and the general overkill.

Tess, Dat were guilty of this, and too an extent, Ralphie. Frankly, I couldn't sit through their stuff for very long. I would run out screaming if they were the stars at a Comedy Club.

Though I too do not think war is funny, it was a clever topical choice on Ralphie's part, and sometimes laughter about even a serious subject is cathartic. It was also a comedic device to deliver him to his trademark self-deprecating humor which has a unique touch. The war for oil hollering was the device to build-up to his declaration that he was "going over there " and thus to the "Ralphie in a parachute coming down " image thing. In the beginning and the end of his set he gets you to laugh at him ... which is classic.

Rich and Cory were the only ones that would keep me in my seat, and they had the best and most material.

Rich would be my choice, but still think Ralphie will win.

Ranking the finals performance sets from best to worst:

1) Rich
2) Cory
3) Ralphie
4) Tie ... Dat and Tess

Good choices.

'The Don' or Rich was really the best. (thanks for clearing that up.) But they are looking for a t.v star. So you never know.

I could easily see Ralphie on a Saturday night live show. Tess on a sitcom. Cory as well, like a Murphy Brown type of serio sitcom. Dat...I don't know. He seems like he would be an O.K actor, but it is not obvious.

Rich could be the new Seinfeld.
