Ronald Reagan in the Matrix??? post #1  quote:

Here's a coincidence for you to check out and draw your own conclusion on. In M1 Cypher visits Agent Smith in the Matrix to discuss his betrayel of the Neb. crew. Agent Smith refers to him with his "real" name, not Cypher. When the seen starts he refers to him as Mr. Reagan. I didn't really think anything of it at the time. But listen to the rest of their dialouge.
Cypher: "...and I want to be someone important, like an actor."
Agent Smith: "Whatever you want, Mr. Reagan"
Considering the sense of humor in the movie, I thought that it may be entirely possible that the W-bros were taking a shot at our beloved former actor/president Ronald Reagan. I thought it was intersting anyway.

PS, take it for what it's worth, I know he was already out of the matrix, and I know he dies before he gets reinserted.

Caught the Mr. Reagan and "I want to be someone important, like an actor." Didn't put it together- funny.

Neo:I just thought, um...you were a guy.

Nice pick up. Same as calling Neo 'Mr. Anderson' I would imagine though.

Yeah, I caught this. Definitely a poke at the ex-pres (he elected to be "asleep" as long as he can run the country) I thought

Yes, this was mentioned in the Matrix Trivia thread last week where the following was posted:

"When the traitor meets with agent "Smith," we learn that his name is Reagan. He says he wants to be someone important, maybe an actor, and that he wants to "remember nothing"! Sound familiar?"

Three years to come up with that... so by my calculations I know when Whidden will actually be funny and can quote this post with something entertaining. So let me say hello to all and Happy New Years 2067!

Mmm... salted cashews.

I stick a couple in my beer at nights; just to get rid of the alcohol taste and make sure I don't get dehydrated.

Reagan drank wine in that scene. Another reason to hate him.

In the Matrix, wine drinker. In the real world, drinker of homemade moonshine, good for degreasing engines and killing brain cells.

If someone would have given Cypher a good old fashioned Beer, with salt in it, we could have skipped the whole Judas thing.

Also, I think Cypher may have been a former ONE.
