Iraq Invasion
The US military has admitted to killing 9 Iraqi civilians, including a child during raids in Baghdad. It was the deadliest case of "mistaken identity" by US forces in recent months.
It added 3 more civillians, 2 of them children, were seriously wounded " as coalition forces pursued al-Qaeda."
Witnesses say 20 people were killed because of an US air strike.
Iraqi police said US helicopters had fired on a neighborhood checkpoint and several Iraqi WOMEN WERE AMONG the VICTIMS.
In November, a leader of one of the so-called awakening councils ( sounds American) Sunni tribesmen allied with American forces , said US forces had KILLED DOZENS of his fighters during a 12- hour battle north of Bahgdad.
Mansour Abid Salim, leader of the Taji Awakening Council, accused US troops of killing many of his men while fighting.
US forces have been criticized often for calling air raids on "targets", without taking resonable care to find out who might be inside.
