A 18-year-old student killed 8 people at a Finnish high school on wednesday. His victims were five male students, one female student, the school nurse and the school principal. After these killings he shot himself in the head and died in hospital a few hours later.
A couple of days before the killer had published videos on Youtube in which he proudly posed with his recently purchased .22lr caliber pistol and shot apples in nearby woods. In these videos he called himself as the "natural selector" and used also name Sturmgeist89 (Storm spirit 89)
The school has about 500 students aged 12-18. Most students followed teachers instructions to lock classroom doors and escape through windows and thus left unharmed. The rest kept hiding until heavily armed police took contol of the building.
Finnish prime minister Matti Vanhanen declared thursday as a national day of mourning ordering flags to be flown half-staff.
