I don't think race is a factor, what he has been accused of is a disgusting horrible crime, white or black the perpetrators should all be brought to justice.
HECK! said this in post #3 : I think there are some rumblings that Vick is being focused on facing such stiff penalties because he's a rich black athlete.
I agree that race isn't a factor, however.
-HECK!
Race has nothing to do with this felony.
Vick is responsible for the animals and has confessed to his guilt
The factors here are Money and celebrity
These big time alteletes have too much moola and not enough
self control to keep out of trouble
Watch next year he will be playing in the NFL

Life may not be the party I had hoped for.......
But while I'm here I might just as well listen to the music and dance..
White Tiger said this in post #4 : I dont know a lot about this story on the whole so I cannot really comment on it, though being an animal lover I condem dogfighting as a great evil.
An interesitng thing to find out is what the NAACP's stand on all this is. Do they feel that Vick is being predjudiced against?
In the deep South? The former highest payed NFL player? Who is Black and plays the leadership position? Over 50% of Falcon's season ticket holders are Black?
Did you know Atlanta Falcons owner was in Africa killing animals on a African Safari when the Vick case broke out?
Do you know Vick is not the first NFL player (or pro athlete) that was accused to be in animal fighting? But no pro athlete that has been accused of dog fighting was ever suspended or banned from sport. And does anyone beleive there are no White athletes invoved in dog fighting?
What about civil rights era ( and now) when cops were using dogs on innocent people? Where was the outrage?
I'm sorry Malcolm but that still doesn't really tell me exactly what he is accused of doing. As I said I know little to nothing about this so I'm not in any real position to make any comments.
As for what you said in you post, I did not know any of the facts that you brought forward mainly for the reason that I dont follow the NFL and have no interest in it.
I dont like judging someone or something with only limited information so I would like to know the facts surrounding this.

Tiger here is waht Vick did. He was involved in a dog fighting ring, he has also been called a heavyweight in the dog fighting circle, his friends say he was the main man in this dog fighting ring and he bred pit bulls and murdered the ones that were to weak to fight. Oh and just so there is now confusion he pled guilty to these charges.
He has been fired from his club, his reputation as the good player and genorous man he was is now soiled by this evil crime he commited, groups like PETA make him public enemy no.1 and he may or may not get a custodial sentence.
I do have to say one thing about Vick and correct me if I am wrong here but to my knowledge the guy plead guilty and has accepted he has done wrong unlike some people he is not playing the race card which in my opinion seems to be the excuse when black people get caught doing something wrong in the USA.

TYou don't need facts to answer theses questions:
Did punishment fit the crime?
Did american justice system work?
do you own a pit bull or dog?
What do you consider woorst? dog fighting or a slaughter house or safari hunting?
Malcolm, White Tiger, in the very post you QUOTED, said they knew little or nothing about the issue. How would they know if the punishment fit the crime, when they aren't even sure of how deep the allegations go?
BTW, the safari hunting thing, if true, should DEFINITELY be brought into light a lot more. That's very hypocritical of the Falcons to fire Vick, if the owner of the Falcons goes on African hunting safaris... Still, when the political windmill starts churning, everyone runs for cover from the piles of s**t that inevitably flies off of it.
To be fair the owner of the Falcons was on a LEGAL safari hunt and he was not betting on the outcome of his hunting and he wasn't torturing the animals.

Atlanta Falcons team owner in another country killing there animals for SPORT?
Animal rights group PETA accusing Micheal Vick of animal cruelty against pitbulls but has a genocide against pitbulls ?
Micheal Vick is not the first NFL or pro athlete invoved in dogfighting . White players have never been involved in dog fighting?
When Blacks are accused of killing dogs, it is murder. When Whites kill dogs it is euthanasia?
When dogs were (are) used to attack innocent Black women and children - where is the outrage?
He doesn't have to know these facts that expose HYPOCRISY . And show that Vick's situation is not about dead dogs. it is about celebrity, high-paid Black men that racists wanted to bring down.
He doesn't have to know issues of case to know these facts exposing hyprocrisy
