All I can say is that it about damn time shame it took 200,000 bodies to make the leaders of the world do something. I must say that I was shocked that France and the UK had to change the language so as not to upset poor Sudan, for Christs sake it's thier fault and we don't want to upset them. Hopefully the worlds largest peacekeeping force will show them we mean business.
I must also say that I think the leaders of the world need to congratulate themselves after all they let 200,000 die in Darfur, let thousnds be executed in Zimbabwe and turned Iraq into the biggest humanatarian disaster in a generation, Well done boys and girls you certainly earned your money today.
UNITED NATIONS - The U.N. Security Council approved a 26,000-strong peacekeeping force for Darfur on Tuesday to try to help end four years of fighting that has killed more than 200,000 people in the vast Sudanese region.
The force — the first joint peacekeeping mission by the African Union and the United Nations — will replace the beleaguered 7,000-strong AU force now in Darfur no later than Dec. 31.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called it a "historic and unprecedented resolution" that will send "a clear and powerful signal" of the U.N.'s commitment to help to the people of Darfur and the surrounding region "and close this tragic chapter in Sudan's history."
Yeah sad to hear that news. I don't think we will get much response from the UN they will leave that to the AU. It does show that the fighters have not been put down as the government has promised ( but we all knew that anyway). Í don't think this kind of incident will happen with the UN peacekeepers as they are better trained, armed and battle ready ( if needed) and unlike the AU they tend to work with each other.
