WWE . com is reporting that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in thier home. At this moment federal investigators are looking into the causes of death and tonights Raw will be a tribute to a true wrestling genius.
I was actually saddend to hear of Benoits death as I liked the guy and although I hate to admit it, it would appear that foul play is involved. If that is the case then WWE must drop it's Vince story as it will hit to close to home and show huge disrespect to a man who gave his all for the WWE, ECW and WCW.
I suppose this is just where I would usually put such new here but have already posted a thread about this in the Breaking News thread. I was hoping to catch you and Hammerlock before you posted this threas here.
I was shocked and saddened to see this story and I actually had to question whether or not it was true, mainly due to the WWE's recent actions with the McMahon storyline.
It is a great loss to the WWE and the Wrestling world in general. Benoit was a true great and the world of wrestling will be worse for his loss.

Scheduled to be at the Monday Night Raw taping tonight in Corpus Christi, TX are Linda McMahon, Eric Bischoff, Steve Austin, Jimmy Hart Ted DiBiase, Moolah, Mae Young and many others.
They were all scheduled to take part in the scripted memorial to Vince McMahon, but all plans have been scrapped and tonight's show will be a three-hour tribute to Chris Benoit.

I was sitting here at my computer when I got a call informing me of the death of Chris Benoit and his family. Other than saying that my thoughts go out to to his remaining family, I don't know what to say. Chris had just called me on Thursday to check on me as he has every week since my surgery and now days later I find out that he's gone. He was my friend. This hurts! This f*cking sucks!!!! Everyone in the TNA family joins the entire wrestling world in mourning the untimely passing of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel.
Many TNA staff and stars worked closely with Chris throughout his career and we are all shocked and saddened to lose a friend and legendary competitor. Benoit was considered a consummate professional both in and out of the ring.
As details develop, those who knew and admired Chris are shocked and saddened to hear of he and his family's untimely passing.

The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that a decision was made just a few minutes ago to cancel the scheduled live Monday Night Raw event tonight in Corpus Christi, TX.
Fans will be sent home from the arena, while WWE wrestlers are being allowed to leave and mourn. WWE.com is still promoting that a three-hour edition of Raw will air tonight in tribute to Chris Benoit.

Aprofessional wrestler and his family were found dead inside their house in Fayette County Monday afternoon.
Authorities confirmed that Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy and their 7-year-old son were found dead at the home on Quarters and Redwine roads in Fayetteville about 4 p.m.
Officials would not say how the family died, other than to say they weren't shot to death.
Benoit, 30, was a Canadian wrestler who most recently fought as part of the World Wrestling Entertainment.
The organization said on its Web site said that Monday night's broadcast of "Raw" on the USA Network will "serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family."

This just in: WWE Pro Wrestler Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. No word on what exactly caused the death, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon since the local authorities are investigating the residence.
I know this isn’t exactly movie news, especially considering Benoit is one of the few from that era of pro wrestlers to not try his hand at acting on the big screen, but we thought it was worth noting.
While I no longer watch wrestling, I was not only a wrestling fan back in the second boom period (aka Austin/Rock/Goldberg time), but also one of the first internet journalists that covered the “sport.”
I had met Chris on a couple occasions and he was always a really nice guy. He not only loved the art and sport of wrestling, but also his family. It’s sad to see him go. From what we understand, WWE is holding a special tribute show for Chris Beniot and his family on tonight’s RAW on USA Network

Vince McMahon broke the news to the wrestlers backstage about the death of Chris Benoit and his family.
One wrestler who was present tells PWTorch that everyone was gathered for an urgent, impromptu gathering backstage. McMahon then explained the basics - that Chris Benoit and his wife and won were found dead. He didn't elaborate or provide any details, and may not have known any more himself. "I've never seen a locker room floored like that. Seventy percent of everyone was just floored like I've never seen before. Everyone is just sad. He was well-liked by everyone. No one ever had a bad word for him. He and Bobby Eaton, that's what people say about those two. He never complained about sh--."

We're being told tonight that police were dispatched to the Benoit home after receiving a call from WWE officials who were concerned that they were not able to get in touch with Benoit.
We're also told that police found the bodies at around 4pm local time and that police would not say how the family died other than they were not shot to death. It could have been carbon monoxide but we do NOT want to speculate on anything.
Vince McMahon opened tonight's RAW broadcast standing in the ring in an empty arena. McMahon explained that tonight was scheduled as a show centered around the presumed death of the "Mr McMahon" character, but with the tragic news of this afternoon the show would now be a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family.

News reports are quoting authorities as saying the death of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and son Daniel, is being investigated as a homicide. Furthermore, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution altered the paragraph of their article on the Benoit family deaths. The third paragraph of the article originally read: "Officials would not say how the family died, other than to say they weren't shot to death." The third paragraph of the article has been changed to read: "Officials were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide." Furthermore, the lieutenant on the case, Lt. Tommy Pope, said the three were actually found at their home at around 2:30 p.m., not 4:00 p.m. like originally reported by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. The lieutenant said results of autopsies were expected Tuesday.

I hope it's not a murder suicide because if it is it flies in the face of the Benoit wrestling fans knew and respected. Guess we will have to wait and see what the autopsy reports say.
Any reports on his other son and his daughter I know they are alive but are they hurt or where they not in the house at the time?
Seems like a lot of questions will be aksed.
I have to say I am glad that Vince made an appearance as the Vince nmurder plot has to come to an end now.
WWE.com is saying that this is a confirmed double murder suicide case. If Chris did the killings ( in all likelyhood he did) how could he do that to his wife and kids?
What a blow to wrestling, Chris was a truly, dedicated wrestler, great competitor and a decent human being. I knew Chris when he was with Stampede Wrestling. I went out a few times with him, Ben Bassarab and Mike Shaw when I lived in Calgary. He will certainly be missed.
I just hope McMahon will have the common decency to give up his clown act and let the honourable people receive the tributes they deserve.

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told ABC News that Benoit had missed several appointments over the weekend, leading concerned parties to ask police to do a "welfare check." When sheriffs arrived at the Benoits' home, they found the wrestler, his wife, and their son dead.
There were no signs of gunshot wounds or stabbing, according to Pope. Authorities are not ruling out other causes, such as poisoning, suffocation, or strangulation. Pope told ABC News that his department is looking at this situation as a "possible double murder, suicide."
Pope said "the instruments of death were located on scene," but would not specify what those instruments are or where in the house the bodies were found. Pope added the department is "not actively searching for any suspects outside of the house."
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. However, it could be weeks before there is a result.
Benoit, 40, was scheduled to spar against C.M. Punk in a pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston for the Extreme Champion Wrestling title. But Benoit canceled before the event, citing personal reasons.
