What's the average tax return for an 18 month old boy? post #1  quote:

Hello everyone. I need some guidance. I asked my mother if she can put my son, who is 18 months old in her tax report. She agreed that she would give me the money. She just received the money a few days ago and told me that she would give me $500!!! Is that a reasonable amount? I feel like she's keeping a lot of money from me. Please help!!

it depends how much money she makes and also how much got witheld form her check. Basically she claimed your kid as a dependent instead of you claiming it.

Why didn't you put your kid on your tax return?

She makes 35 thousand a year. I don't know how much was returned to her, she won't tell me. Also, I don't currently have a job. I stay home with my son. My mother also put me, my brother, and my sister in there. Does that change how much more or how much less she gets back for each child?

I think it's a set amount per child.

if she's making 35 thousand a year, 500 dollars sounds reasonable.

She may have got a little more than that back because of claiming your kid, but it sounds pretty reasonable to me.
