Christmas tree in colored lights (mostly for the kids), colored outside lights just because it looks dang cool, and my hubby, kids, and I all go every year to a neighboring town to look at all the lights, and we've always since I was little bitty opened the presents on Christmas Eve.
Christmas tree, colored lights on the tree, angel on the top of the tree, outside (window) lights in color, stockings, send out Christmas cards, go to church (on xmas eve), open presents on Christmas eve AND Christmas day, go to Christmas parties, go look at lights, watch Christmas movies (we have a TON taped on our dvr that we still need to watch, but we've watched quite a few already).
:::>^..^<::: ~*~The Journey is more important than the end or the start~*~ :::>^..^<:::
We do a tree wtih white and colored lights and an angel on top.
We put up stocking and send christmas cards and leave a plate of homemade cookies for santa, although last year he got pizza. we OEN PRESENTS N CHRISTMAS EVE AND dAY AND GO LOOK AT LIGHTS AND WATCH MOVIES.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, diet coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies.
A friend is someone who thinks you're a good egg, even though you're slightly cracked.
We do a tree with colored lights and a star at the top. Nikki wants the star because that is how the wisemen found Jesus. Anyhoo, we have colored lights outside too. Usually we have stockings, but I lost them somehow this year. We leave out cookies for Santa, but I like Buffy's idea of leaving pizza. Almost every year my mom and my sisters come over and we make tamales all day. It doesn't seem like Christmas until I can smell the tamales cooking.
Christmas movies: gotta have Christmas Vacation and Christmas Story.
We have a real tree every year, but I think that this is our last year, as Dad's allegies are getting worse over the years. We put colored lights on the tree and outside (the ones outside are up year-round), and we have a star on the tree. We usually sing carols in the warmth of our home, but haven't for the past two years. We open most of our presents on Christmas morning (my brother, cousin, and I are up by at least 5), but the kids in the family have worked hard and finally opening one present Christmas Eve night has been accepted as another Christmas tratition for our house.
"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." Mark Twain
Oh yeah, and we send out cards and do stockings. My parents put up stockings for the kids and for the past few years my brother and I put them up for my parents.

My mom suffered with tree allergies for years. When I was about twenty-23 she at long last got a fake one. I miss the real trees at her house, but it is so much better to see her not feeling ill.
Today is tamale day. Hopefully this cold will not ruin the taste for me.
