Door to Door Athiests Bother Mormons post #1  quote:

I'm not sure if it'll offend those who do believe in God, but I doubt it. It's more a case of laying it into the mormons who have their beliefs yet like to come around and tell you all about them really early on a Saturday morning.

It's funny to see how some mormons react to their very same medicine.

It's funny how they actually find it quite annoying, though. Why would I be interested in their lame-ass religion if nobody's interested in my lame-ass religion? Unfair, man. Totally unfair.

You know what I always wanted? You know that glazed-over, docile look the mormon door-to-doorers always have? I never worked out how that's possible. I mean, I have blue eyes too, but they're never so empty. Wonder how that's possible.

post #4  quote:

During 1800s, Anthropologists had a problem as to how
to classify human beings. One researcher proposed the
expression "intelligent animal". After advanced studies
on monkeys, it was dropped. Another researcher proposed
"tool using animal". After observing some animals
making wooden tools and sharpening them with knife like
stones, it was dropped. Another researcher proposed
"weapon using animal". A decade ago, a rare film was
shot in African forests. One short monkey was hit very
badly by a big monkey. The short monkey prepared a
wooden knife using stones and hid it on the top of a
tree. After some days, when the big monkey came to
attack the short monkey, it ran up to the tree for the
weapon it has hid and killed the big monkey. The one
thing that the anthropologists found with any group of
human beings, even if they did not have contacts with
the out side world for thousands of years, is
spirituality with some form of religion. So, man is a
"spiritual animal" if you want to call him that way.

The Upanishads say that "Manush" (human) was so named
because he has "Manas" a mind higher than that of the
animals which realises the divinity in creation. It was
present since the creation of human beings. Religion is
the characteristic feature of most of the human beings.
It is as eternal and and as unchanging as the Almighty.
Disbelief by a few will not affect it.

Since it is a film, its also possible that the monkey was trained to "act" that way. Hollywood stuff, as they say.... dogs like Lassie, horses like Hidalgo are paid hefty amount of talent fees for showtime.

Anyway, the danger that you're trying to sound off is that a war fought between "paid professional/carreer warriors" aka USMC, would likely lose the fight against the impassioned "spiritual warriors" aka zombies or the "Punishment from above". Is that it?

You must really not like me, huh?

Ooh-rah
4 years as a scout sniper in the USMC.
21 months in Iraq in two tours.
Best job in the world. (Sitting around with an M40A3)

Don't look at me like
I am a monster
Frown out your one face
But with the other
Stare like a junkie
Into the TV
Stare like a zombie
While the mother
Holds her child
Watches him die
Hands to the sky crying
Why, oh why?
'cause I need to watch things die
From a distance

Think of it rather as a warm welcome. A tickle for attention rather than an attack for domination.

Hey dude, this is a forum. It becomes more interesting as there are more participation.

I have yet to meet a spiritual warrior that can beat me at my own game. I have take out many insurgents with SVDs or SKSs and not one really knew how to use it. I even got one with a Mosin-Nagant, but I digress. A professional soldier like myself will almost always triumph over a religious Zealot. It is a matter of skill Vs. will. My training has allowed me to survive in every situation i have come across yet. Will power only allows you to achieve so much.

The absence of a diety to praise and worship is not in anyway what has kept you alive. Nor is it what has allowed you to triumph over those who have one. It is your training and only your training that has allowed that. Don't make the mistake of thinking yourself greater than another due to your beliefs or lack there of Marine.

Also, as a fellow Marine, I don't find it flattering to the Marine Corps when our own brag about what they do as if it is some glorious, spectacular hollywood version of the atrocities of war. It lends to the popular belief that we are murderers.

Good luck and God speed.

Wow, "taking people out" sounds like such a lot of fun.

As for will v skill - the better trained and armed Soviets believed exactly the same in Afghanistan. The better trained and armed in the US believed the same in Vietnam and Iraq. Your arrogance and indifference will be your downfall, as it has been for the US in Iraq.

I don't think either one of us stated that we will survive everything.

I'll agree to that. At the same time however, if someone in a combat engagement doesn't have that level or manner of confidence, they may second guess themselves or make fatal mistakes not only endangering themselves, but also those in battle with them.
