When three Cylon Raiders Jump into the middle of the fleet, the Galactica braces for a fight. But two of the Raiders are actually chasing the third. Taking advantage of their enemies' preoccupation, Starbuck and Kat gun down the two pursuing ships. Then a man calling himself "Bulldog" sends a desperate radio signal from the third Raider. Hearing it, Adama orders the craft escorted onto the Galactica. A haggard man disembarks. DNA comparisons confirm that he is Lt. Daniel "Bulldog" Novacek, who once served under Adama.
Novacek and Adama tell Roslin that they conducted a mission together about a year before the Cylons attacked the Colonies. While investigating illegal mining near the Cylon armistice line, Novacek was shot down by the miners. Adama gave him up for dead, but Novacek ejected and was picked up by the Cylons. For three years, they held him in a cell aboard a baseship, but he finally escaped, stole a Raider, and fled to the human fleet.
Roslin suspects that this simple narrative is not the whole truth, but Adama just asks her to trust him. Later, he confides the true story to his son, Lee. The admiralty actually ordered Adama to spy on the Cylons, not on renegade miners. While he observed aboard the battlestar Valkyrie, Novacek, his best pilot, flew a small stealth ship over the armistice line to hunt for evidence of Cylon military preparations. There, an unknown vessel attacked Novacek. As more mystery spacecraft circled in for the kill, Adama ordered Novacek's ship destroyed by a missile to cover up the spy mission. Having endured guilt about that decision for years, now he must face the additional fact that, despite his actions, the Cylons discovered and captured Novacek. Indeed, Adama now believes that this failed spy mission provoked the Cylons' massive attack on the Colonies.
While Adama confesses this to Lee, Novacek hears the same story from Col. Tigh, who was also aboard the Valkyrie that day. Novacek never knew that the missile strike which sent him into enemy hands was ordered by his own commanding officer. He's appalled to learn the truth.
Meanwhile, as Starbuck reviews film of the Raiders' high-speed chase, she notices that the pursuing Cylon ships deliberately fired their weapons past Novacek's craft, missing him. She can only conclude that the Cylons wanted their prisoner to escape. Whatever the reason for that, it can't bode well for the human fleet. Then, without warning, Novacek violently ambushes Adama. Betrayed and furious, he'll be satisfied only when Adama is dead….

Okay... Baltar is sackin' #6, and MY Lucy.
But, that nice little view, of her getting out from the bed, and walking off
OMG, that ass... soooooooooooo sweet.

Yeah, highlight of show for me was the bedroom scene. Those Cylons, one minute they are torturing you, the next they crawl into bed with ya.
Baltar is getting all the action. Adama gets to flirt with the President. What kind of justice is that?!?!?
I liked that actor that was BullDog, he used to be on Alias. I hope he shows up for more side character plot lines. I also liked the storyline that Adama is a frakin hero, but like most hero's, guy has skeletons in his closet.
Yeah, Baltar gets 'em both, after last weeks utterings of loving them, etc...
Lucy totally fell for it, and so now, he's bagging the hotties, and I'm waiting for the Sharon cylon to join in too. What a dream.
Bulldog is cool... but is he really everything that we think, at this point? Did he really spend three years in that cell, and then escape? Or, what? Attacking Adama... bad decision. Too many people remember him being shot by the cylon Boomer, and that won't go over well. Now, Tigh had to fill his head with all that crap.

Another thing, it took Starbuck like a long time to learn how to fly that Cylon ship, and it had it's brain shot out. Bulldog just hopped in one and cruised on out.
That's what I thought, except it was like one of those diet chips, that I can't remember the brand name, but they come preformed like a Pringle and got that extra extra extra salt and spice on them to try to hide the fact they are a diet chip.
Real thick suckers and odd ball curvy shaped like his eye patch.
I thought Adama had been on Galactica forever, but it turns out he was busted down from a good ship, to the almost retired B.S. Gal for screwing up the mission on the Valkyrie.
Yeah, we learned that Adama isn't so "perfect" but that's all cool, because he's got flaws, like we all do. He made the best decision that he could, at the time. And like Roslin said... maybe he was set up, by the cylons, so that they "had an excuse" to go to war with them.
Maybe Tigh will turn around... who knows! But, he sorta redeemed himself by saving Adama from Bulldogs attack. I guess he and Adama getting ready to have a drink at the end is the way of showing that they are giong to work through things. I still don't have to like him though... right?

I think if Adama had been on the (newer) Valkyrie when the Cylons attacked , he and Apallo would be dead now. I agree with the question of how could Bulldog just hop in a Raider and just cruise on out. He spent three years in a cell for frak sake!!! How is this possible?? Where were his questions, Bulldogs, about why were all these people out in space? where were his questions about the Cylon attack? How did he find the fleet? I would not be asking these questions if he were still on the Galactica. But since he (is a pilot/warm body to fight on the front lines) was allowed to leave for a civilian ship (and not just on leave)... I got questions. Why was he allowed to leave the Galactica?!?!? (it seems that Carl Lumbly/Lt. Daniel "Bulldog" Novacek signed on for just on episode. I could be wrong on this.)
Maybe he will be back, later on... but, for now, it was just to show that the cylons had a captive, that they possibly "let him go" and that Adama had a skeleton in the closet. Hell, I think that it took Bulldog to get Tigh to snap out of his crap.
