Fujin is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series.
About Fujin
Fujin is Earthrealm's God of Wind. After the events of Mortal Kombat Gold, he became Earthrealm's new protector, succeeding Raiden, who had earned his place as an Elder God. He appears as a tall, ageless, muscular human with long white hair bound in a ponytail, and glowing white eyes. As expected, he has a great variety of wind-oriented attacks at his disposal (of particular note is an immense tornado he uses in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero). Although more indifferent and abstract in character than Raiden, Fujin is also concerned with the fate of Earthrealm.
Storyline
Fujin made his first chronological appearance in the spin-off game Mortal Kombat Mythologies. He appeared here as one of the four guardian Gods who protected Shinnok's amulet, and was the first of the gods that the elder Sub-Zero bested in order to acquire it (he is seen being torn asunder by his own tornado, but survived the ordeal).
He would remain inactive until the events of Mortal Kombat Gold, one of the few remaining Earthrealm gods not destroyed by Shinnok. He joined Raiden in his battle against his old enemy, assisting the Earthrealm forces in emerging victorious. After Shinnok's defeat, Fujin consulted with the Elder gods, who revealed to him that he had a new task. Raiden appeared before him, and informed him of his own impending ascension to the pantheon of Elder Gods. Earthrealm would be in need of a new protector, and Fujin was the one Raiden had chosen. Fujin accepted the position, and promised Raiden he would not fail him.
Possible future
Specific details of Fujin's activities as Earthrealm's guardian have not been revealed, but information may be at hand, as after a long absence, Fujin will be returning in the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Trivia
Along with Raiden, Fujin is the only other character in the series to originate from Japanese religion. The real Fujin is the Japanese god of the wind and one of the eldest Shinto gods. He was present at the creation of the world, and when he first let the winds out of his bag, they cleared the morning mists and filled the space between Heaven and Earth so the sun could shine.
Although he does not appear in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Fujin is seen as a prisoner in the Dark Prison stage in Mortal Kombat: Deception, along with various other characters.
The first of the four elemental gods encountered in Mythologies: Sub-Zero is one that matches Fujin's appearance and move style (control over wind), however, none of the four gods are actually mentioned by name.
According to the MK4 comic, Fujin met Liu Kang and Kai when he fell from the heavens while fighting some Oni. The mortals joined in and fought the Oni until Raiden appeared and took out the remaining Oni with lightning. Afterwards, Fujin was introduced to them. If it is true that the other Element Gods were murdered by Shinnok, then his fall from the heavens may have been how he escaped being killed, as the other gods were.
Fujin was meant to be in Deception in place of Raiden; the introduction was meant to show why Raiden was not in the game. Due to the fan complaints, he was dropped and Raiden was put back in the game (known as 'Dark' Raiden).
In Mortal Kombat 4, Fujin inherited Kung Lao's Rapid Spin and Air Lunge Kick. This seemed appropriate as these two moves were associated with wind in one way or another.
Fujin was written to be Raiden's brother in various strategy guides for the arcade version of Mortal Kombat 4, although this has never been mentioned in the actual games.
Fujin is rumored to appear in Mortal Kombat: Devastation being portayed by Matthias Hues.

Fujin must be one of those characters that take time to learn because I can't seem to get a handle on him. The combos and special moves just aren't working. Then I get angry at his ponytail and it's all over.
