Cluster bomb are dropped in the full knowledge that up to one-quarter of them fail to explode on impact "and are left to be found by unsuspecting civilians returning to their homes." Is this terrorism?
"UN surveyors estimate that there are as many as 100,000 unexploded cluster bomblets strewn around in 400 bomb-strike sites in southern Lebanon. Scores of Lebanese children and adults have been killed and injured by this unexploded ordnance since the cease-fire last month." No pin-point attacks on military targets here, just 100,000 unexploded bombs strewn across 400 bomb sites of Southern Lebanon. Terrorism?
Of course we are all told that this is not terrorism, because we NEVER call the state violence WE inflict on civilians terrorism. Furthermore: "Fully 90 percent of Israel's cluster-bomb strikes were conducted, according to UN humanitarian coordinator Jan Egelund, in the last 72 hours before the cease-fire took effect, when it was apparent that a UN cease-fire resolution was in the works." Why, when a ceasefire was immanent, did we then drop 90 percent of all the cluster bombs dropped in that war, knowing it would leave 100,000 unexploded bombs across southern Lebanon, knowing the death this would cause to innocent civilans, children and adults?
Why is this not state terrorism?
