What a great way to start off the year on Monday Night Football -- a doubleheader! Washington v. Minnesota in game 1, followed by San Diego v. Oakland in game 2! I wish they would do this every Monday night!
Well, since my boys (SD Chargers) are a part of tonights welcoming back of MNF, I'm glued to the tv and watching. We're in the first quarter now, and we've currently got three, and the Raiders at zero. THAT would make me really happy, to see a shut down. Though, I won't hold my breath.
Hope you didn't hold your breath, even though the Chargers shut down the Raiders. It was hard to tell if San Diego was just that good or Oakland was just that bad (probably the former)! Oakland needs to re-hire Jeff George as QB.
I was thinking the same thing. Raiders are that bad, but SD did play a solid game. Rivers didn't exactly have insane numbers but the kid won and good for him.
The second broadcast team was a lot better. Vermeil is the man.
The first game was a lot better than the second. Big yawn fest.
Heck... I wasn't all THAT impressed with Rivers. Sure, he had some good tosses... and two really sweet ones. But, for the most part, it was due to rushing... mainly, L.T.
The Raiders offense played like crap.... I mean, were they even there? Their defense wasn't that impressive either... but, they still made the Chargers work for points.
The pass game will live and die with LT's legs. Dude opens up that field like no other. It was the same with Faulk on the Rams.
Plus Antonio Gates is an underneat threat. Those two can make Rivers look really good.
Dude was alright, as long as he didn't throw a pick or lay it on the ground then he gets a passing grade for showing up.
After seeing my Rams shake and bake the Broncos without scoring a TD, I think the Chargers can easily take the division. As for the Chiefs, without Trent Green the next few weeks, who got a nasy concussion, they can go into an early hole. Raiders, well, . It could be SD's division to lose.
I truly hope that the Chargers have a GREAT season, and keep winning, and playing damn hard. They do good, but they crap out, a lot, in the fourth quarter. Hopefully, that's changed. I would love to see them hold the division this season.
