Season 18 has begun so I've changed this thread to be the Season 18 General Discussion thread (instead of rumors).
The Mook, the Chef, the Wife, and Her Homer
In the first episode of this season, Lisa befriends Fat Tony's son Michael (you can already see the Godfather parody coming on, can't you?). When Michael announces he wants to become a chef, the other mob families see him as weak and gun him down. While he's recovering, Michael takes over the family business, with the assistance of Homer and Bart. Seeing how the mob-mentality was dementing them, Michael decides to get out of the business, and hands his territories over to other families. After he invites the families heads over to announce this, they all keel over during their meal (where Lisa finds out that Michael's recipe contains poison). In the end, Lisa confronts him about this, but of course he tells her never to ask him about his business (of course...).

Jazzy and the Pussycats
Since Bart acts out so much, they take him to a child psychiatrist who suggests drumming. When Bart turns out to love drumming, his parents get annoyed so Lisa takes him to a Jazz club, and when Bart jams on stage with her, he gets invited to join a jazz trio. Lisa gets jealous, so Marge offers to let her get a dog to make her feel better. Feeling sorry for all the animals she sees, she ends up with a heap of stray animals locked in the attic... then Bart gets bitten by a tiger......... *cough*

This season's been pretty funny, I have to say. Probably an improvement over the past 4 or so seasons. The last one was an improvement, with one episode hitting the top 50 episodes ever list. This one has been consistantly funny from episode 1.
Makes me anticipate the movie more and more.

They have been getting a lot better, but I never felt they were too awful the past few seasons. I think Family Guy and South Park made people dislike The Simpsons because its content isn't as raunchy.
Either way, I still dig it.
So Homer was an Ice Cream Man last night. I wish I could find a list of his jobs...
Nah, I reckon it's just because a few of the later seasons just sucked. Each had some awesome episodes, but that didn't make up for lame seasons. The show never had to be that raunchy (compared to South Park, that is), it just had to have original and unpredictable jokes. Watching some of the episodes became like reading the comics; it was like you were just hearing material recycled from older, more classic episodes. It was embarassing.
Haven't seen the ice cream man one yet, hopefully soon.
Family Guy's another one that's picking up some steam after an alright (but not brilliant) fourth season.

not to mention
quote:
Bart: Where is Nelson? Skinner: I'm sorry. Nelson never woke up. Bart: What?! Skinner: Never woke up because he never passed out -- he's right over there.
Too many funny things to even count...
This is by far the best season for years!
