I love all the punnage in this poll

anyway, onto the review!

Was the movie good? yes. funny? yes. better than the original? no. cgi fest? yeah. Over-the-top? yes.

all in all though, thoroughly enjoyed it. As to it being over the top, you may well wonder how that could happen, given the nature of the first movie. the first movie was, as far as i'm concerned, perfect, in so far as what they were trying to do was concerned. this movie had the same elements as the orginal, the comedy, acting, screenplay, and that bit of creepiness just for grins. Unfortunately, they overdo it, somewhat spoiling the perfect formula. Also, it felt a little bit to CGI heavy. Don't expect any resolution at the end either, as its a lead in to the next movie At World's End
Most of the plot lines started in this movie remain unresolved, in addition to the two big ones opened up by the movies end, one of them being, "hey, didn't good ole' Cap'n Barbossa die in the last movie?" Well, appearently not, as Geoffrey Rush makes a cameo at the movies close, reprising his apple loving character, Barbossa. Oh, and the undead monkey is back.

Love is a very powerful force, especially when its formed into a coherent beam of death.

The movie was great, imo. I loved the cgi-fest, as that was a defining characteristic of the first movie. I found the movie was just a "raising of the bar" so to speak, but it was all the same old stuff from the original in terms of the character associations, character flaws and the like. The thing is, for me, I just had a feeling that Barbossa would end up showing his face in this movie... I can't pinpoint why, but it just felt like he was gonna show up somewhere...

Great movie. I was very pleased. I can't wait til the next installment.

I liked it... a lot. I thought this movie was great, definitely made big promises and delivered. I liked how they incorporated parts of the ride into the movie. And I loved how much funnier this movie was than the first. And I didn't expect to see Barbossa at all, everyone in the theatre started shrieking. The story wasn't as good as the first one, obviously, and it's definitely a bit of a filler, but it was entertaining and I can't wait for the next movie.

and I now hate Elizabeth.

good movie!

Above par... It was really good. Not brilliant compared to the first movie, but it was good. I think for people who couldn't remember who was who from the first movie would've had a lot of trouble trying to understand why people were doing what they were doing for half of the movie...

Oh, and that Dice game that Will plays with Davey Jones, I play that shhh with folks from time to time, especially when pissed. I don't know if it's a Chinese game or what, but they love it here... it's kind of dull watching it in a movie though.

Really, I've never seen it before. That's cool, I really liked that scene actually but I didn't know what happened the first time. Took me two watchings to figure out who had won and lost.

Oh I can imagine. The first time I played it it took me 4 or 5 games to work out what was going on... I was yelling stupid crap like "four nines!!!"
