I was up last night watching World Cup coverage on fox soccer channel, and they said in an interview on another network that Bruce Arena critcised Kasey Kellar for playing the ball out down field when our men where not there and then the CR turning it into a goal. There was some speculation that Tim Howard might start the Italy game in goal for the U.S. and that Clint Dempsey might take the field for us too.
Arena needs to make some changes vs Italy for sure. Not only tactically, but he has to stir things up to try and get the confidence level back up.
If he takes out Kellar though, it tells me Arena has gone into total panic mode. The only reason to put in Tim Howard would be if the tournament is a total loss and Arena wants him to get some experience
With Arena's record in Europe (0-6), why would he be called upon to coach the team? Is there not someone else who could do better that could be used? (Pardon my stupidity when it come to soccer -- I know very little of the game.)
1-1 at the half. The US has dominated much of the first half with 59% of possession so far.
The red card on Maestroeni was totally uncalled for. I could site 20 tackles in this cup so far that were as bad or worse, and not a one got a straight red. It deserved a yellow no doubt, but nobody will ever convince me that wasnt an effort to even up the game after the (deserved) Italian red.
I hope the world is watching- this what the US is capable of.
As for Arenas record in Europe, no American coach has ever won in Europe. Arena has brought the team to where it is playing better than ever and deserves to be in charge
What the USA need to do is get Guss Hiddink from after he is finished with the Russians. He is currently with the Aussies and did a great job for South Koera before that. He has a great record with International teams and can make good teams seem great.
Anyway it was a good draw for the Americans considering the fact that Italy are one of the favorites.

Well, Im happy with a point, but I cant help but wonder what wouldve happened wihtout the red card issued to Maestroani. Up to that point the US was dominating the midfield, I wondered if Totti was even on the field at times. With a numerical advantage Italy may not have been able to muster an attack serious enough to draw a second yellow out of Pope or Onyewu.
The Uruguayan ref (Jorge Larrionda) seemed to think everybody was there to see him officiate instead of see a competitive match. In my opinion he is the worst we have seen in this tournament.
Bora Milatunavic, Steve Samson, and Bruce Arena have all added something to this team and contributed to its moving forward. I am a big fan of Hiddink, if he is the next to add some spice to the mix, I am all for it
I hope that Arena goes. He has brough the team as far as he can, now we need a coach with some depth.
Mastroeni. was magnificent. He brought it to Italy. He in no way deserved the red card. I think the official had the idea that he had to give all the cards in his pocket. DeMarcus Beasley did not do well in the match. He should have come on the field and pressed, but he ran around half ass most of the time. Dempsey did a better job.
You have to give it to our boys for having that American "never say die" attitude. They went out there, and they were aggressive and showed no fear like they did with Czech Republic.
No. Final score was 1-1. Truth be told, the US outplayed the Italians over most of the match, even the second half when they were a man down.
Whoever you were talking to may have confused that game with the Czech Rep. match. The US lost that one to a world class team playing top notch soccer 3-0, problem is for the Czechs ,that was the only game they played well and got knocked out in the first round like the US
