Well not a big shock that we lost. You have to hand it to the Czech Republic. They are so strong everywhere. I think ANY team would and will have a hell of a time getting past them. They were solid.
The US can still get through... this does make it more difficult for them, of course, and a lot of it now will depend on how the Czech Republic do in their other matches... but all is not lost.
It was a tough loss, because now the US have less confidence going up against Italy - who are undoubtedly better than the Czechs. Ghana, on the other hand... you'll thrash 'em, so don't worry about that one. Unfortunately, I predict the Czech republic will thrash them also (and Italy already did).

First, welcome to the forum aggie1978.
I don't look for us to rebound from this. Bruce Arena mouthing off that one of the goals was Keller's fault is not helping his cause. He was out coached, outplayed, and he should have owned up to it. We played flat. Plain and simple, but IMO if we were on our A game, we still would have lost to this awesome Czech team. You have to give them props for their depth.
Our chances are so slim. It would take a win against Ghana with many goals, a tie with Italy, and hope for CR to beat Italy and Ghana, and with us going through somehow on GD. Most of it is out of our hands. Still, they are my team, so I root for them.
Grant, I have to disagree with your statement that Italy is stronger than the Czechs. CR is solid through and through. Italy, I predict, will not be able to beat the Czechs, but I have the Czechs as the next WW Champions.
The US didnt have a good chance of advancing going into the tournament, and they still dont, but they do have a chance.
In the last 16 years the US has beaten Columbia , Portugal, and Mexico in world cup matches. All class sides, but todays Czech Rep. and Italy outclass all of the above. That being said, this US squad is undoubtedly better than than it has ever been, but it will take a supreme effort to best a potential WC champion
I'm not speaking from knowledge, but rather just an assumption... but the US isn't a really big soccer Country, is it? Mostly Baseball and Basketball and Football, right?

Yep, soccer players in this country make a fraction of what Football/ Basketball/ Baseball players make. But fan support is steadily growing, as is the quality of play in the league and the national team

Not to mention with Beckham coming in, the whole thing is just going to explode...
