Yeah, Topher Grace was a poor choice. Nevertheless, at least I have hope for the movie, I actually think it's going to be really good. This is one I'll see in theatres, and that's saying something.
I'll catch this one in the theatres too. It will be great on the big screen, as the other 2 have been. I'm hoping that Topher doesn't turn out to be so bad. We'll just have to wait and see. I'd have preferred to see someone like Tom Jane (The Punisher and Deep Blue Sea) or Aaron Eckhart (Thank You for Smoking and The Core) in that role. Why do those guys seem to be the SAME GUY to me?
Topher Grace just is such an awful choice, physically speaking. He's like super skinny and not at all buff in the least. Eddie Brock was a duded up knuckle dragger.
I looked around online and found that the Ultimates version of Brock was pretty weak looking, so maybe they're going off of that.
Maybe. If that's the case, then I hope that they still make Venom a behemoth. Maybe he'll be so big because of how raw and unbridled Brock's emotions are, huh? That's why the symbiote likes Brock so much, right?
My only issue is, if this is supposed to be shown through the acting skill of Topher Grace, I'm not sure that Brock will be convincing...
Oh well. Not like this is gonna stop me from seeing the movie in the theatres on opening weekend...
Oh yeah, make no mistake I am in there like swimwear at a midnight showing if they have one, opening day for sure.
But with a CGI Venom they can do anything, make him as big as they want, totally. I know I'm acting like a fanboy malcontent, the very thing I hate, but I stand by the BS call on Topher being Eddie Brock.
Not only that, we have Sandman and Green Goblin. I still say Venom show be the only main villian. If they were going to have a three-way with bad guys, use The Lizard, he's already been established. Bringing Venom in opens a whole bag of crap that the movie could never do justice even if he was the only baddie.
I mean, they have to show Spidey getting his suit during Secret Wars and all...
They'll probably "simplify" the black suit origin. Secret Wars is at least a movie in and of itself. I doubt they'll even take it there. But I agree, if they were going to hit up three baddies in one movie, they should've substituted The Lizard for Venom.
But I figure they wanted to make sure that they included Venom as part of the 3-picture deal with the studio. Venom had to be in the 3rd one, because they are only contracted to do 3 movies in total. Green Goblin makes sense for villian #1. Doc Ock makes sense as villian number 2. A crazed and CGI-generated Venom (they'll wisely use their CGI education from the first 2 movies to make Venom as lifelike as possible, which I'm all for...) makes sense for the final movie of a 3-picture deal, but at first glance I would think that he'd be more than good enough by himself. Then again, Venom is a raging idiot, isn't he? How can his storyline stand up all by itself in movie #3? I guess I can understand bringing in at least one other baby villian that Spidey warms up on before the real encounter with Venom.
But they probably put 2 more villians in to make the movie that much more action-packed as a grand finale to the series...
Still, I'm excited. Venom's gonna WHOOP Spidey early on... I can't wait...
Sierradaddy said this in post #5 :Why do those guys seem to be the SAME GUY to me?
haha, damn I was about to quote you and say exactly that, they look almost exactly alike to me. I think someone like that dude (the main character guy) from Underworld or Hugh Jackman would have fit. But jackman's already signed to one marvel project. Maybe the guy that played Ajax in Troy too, that's a big guy.
