The Senate immigration bill that passed yesterday amounts to the largest ever expansion of the federal government and the welfare / entitlement class. It is a bill designed to encourage immigration, not control or limit it. We are told that the illegal aliens must pay their back taxes in order to become legal. However, only the taxes due within the last three years must be paid. The rest of the taxes due will be forgiven. They don’t forgive taxes owed by U.S citizens do they?
The bill provides tuition subsidies to illegal aliens. It also imposes a federal requirement that illegal aliens be paid the prevailing wage. There is no such requirement for U.S. citizens to be paid the prevailing wage unless they are working on federal projects.
Mexicans are also classified as minorities according to affirmative action laws, so they will be given preference over U.S. citizens for jobs.
Illegal aliens that forged fake social security cards in order to get work in the U.S. have been subjected top social security withholding. Therefore, since they have contributed, they will be enrolled into the program, and be allowed to collect full benefits.
A provision in the bill provides for the construction of border fencing, however, it requires consultation and agreement with Mexico before building the fence.
Now you can see what I meant when I said that sending the National Guard to the border was a bunch of BS to make you think Bush was cracking down on border enforcement. Unless this gets redone by the House of Representatives, there is no border.
What is really amazing is that this story has not even been mentioned on ABC, CBS, and NBC. Why do you think that is?
They are busy talking about a cure for Shingles, Memorial Day travel, big alligators in Florida, etc. Yet the Senate vote yesterday is probably the biggest political story in ten years. It makes stories like the UAE port deal and the Harriet Myers Supreme Court nomination look like chump change, yet those stories were covered exhaustively by the networks.
How many dozens of stories did they run the demonstrations each time there was one? Did they tell us what the demonstrators wanted? I think they did. Yesterday Congress gave the demonstrators everything they wanted and MUCH more, but not one peep about it on ABC, CBS, and NBC.

This has always ticked me off - i'm expected to run off loans only for my college education but someone who isn't even a green card holder gets a free education - i love how reversed it is.

Where the hell is my scholarship ride? i have a 3.9 gpa with 99 credits and i'll probably have to kill my credit to even pay off my loans when i'm done with college and most of all, i speak English and can actually read the expensive text books. Hell i scored a 32/36 on my ACT tests and still get baby scholarships. And to anyone on inreview that may think i'm stupid, put that score in your pipe and smoke it

Jesus, aren't we busting our asses, left and right, to try to make a living here in America? Are we getting ANY free rides? NO, I don't think so. Well, the gov't has pissed off a lot of people with this decision of theirs. And I for one will not support it, if I can help it. Next thing you know, we, who were born, and raised, in America, will be REQUIRED to speak spanish.

I've heard, not confirmed, that certain state schools are now requiring our children to start learning spanish only in middle school - with no other language options.
My nephews school in NC has spanish classes as a 2nd language, no other language offered.
Why are they not required to understand us, but we are required to understand them?
I'm busting my ass and see illegals with better and nicer cars then i have - hell, i saw some illegals get busted with a meth lab a while back and they were living in a 200,000 dollar house!
All were deported.
