It's truely is a pity that Brad Friedel retired from internationals. He would have given your American team a little extra confidance in defence.
Not to take anything away from Marcus Hanemann, Tim Howard or Kasey Keller but Brad Friedel is the only American Goalkeeper play constant first team football for a top flight English team
Hanemann plays for Reading, who have had a great season but they are only a Championship side. Howard hasn't played a premiership match since Van Der Sarr arrived at Utd. and Keller has been playing for German side Brussia Munchengladbach in the bundesliga (which is sort of the English premiership ten years ago)
But Brad Friedel has been Blackburn's no.1 choice keeper for the last few seasons and will compete on the European stage next season. So it truely is a shame that he wont be playing at the world cup.

Brad was always my favorite American keeper. I was always suprise when he was second to Keller during his Liverpool days. However, for point of fact, you wont find a better Keeper than Shay Given.

I thought it was messed up that he was second to Keller. Ron likes Keller better, I think, but I love how aggressive Friedel is. That man has a hell of a reach and he can fling the ball past the midfield.
I'm afraid that I dont know a lot about the majority of your team. I know Bobby Convey, Eddie Lewis, Carlos Bocanegra, Clauido Reyna, Landon Donavon, Josh Wolff, Brian McBride, and Eddie Pope (by reputation) but the rest I don't really know alot about.
Why is it, if you can answer this question for me, that the Americans produce better goalkeepers than outfield players? I mean some American keepers have played for some of the best English team, so they must be good.
I know Landon Donavon and Josh Wolff are world class forwards but in general America produce a high calibur of keepers. I'm just wondering why that is.

I think we just grow them bigger here. Seriously, I'd have to ask Ron. Ron was a keeper, so he really knows the position. I'll see if I can get him to post an answer.
American kids grow up playing games with their hands, not their feet. Baseball, Basketball, Football, I played all of these for years before I even heard of Soccer.
