You know, during the Civil War, the immigrants coming over to Ellis Island were accepted, papered, given a uniform, gun and sent off to war. Their families could stay. Maybe something like that should go down... I know it's harsh and overstating the facts, but that was real immigration back then.

Good way to earn trust and citizenship--fighting for it.
Please pardon my pseudo-intellectuaphilisophicalismysiticality.
It is not an exaggeration regarding the implied number of illegal immigrants. But the more important message is in the signage showing the renaming of Texas. That is the philosophical heart of the issue, and it comes across in the message of the demonstrators that the U.S. owes citizenship to illegal aliens as compensation for some past sin.
I heard today on a talk show the former amb. to Mexico. He said there is right now in mexico city in the history museum, a picture showing the former (before the americans) mexico. It shows a mexico going from their southern border almost to alaska and east to the mississippi river. All 10 year old students are taught that this land was stolen by the illegal immigration of the europeans. They are teaching that because, they say, we became greater in numbers and were able to take it or steal it or buy it illegally and use are military to do it. So they have been telling their people for years (decades) that the only way to get it back is the same way we took it. By greater numbers.
Personally I don't think the poor guy from southern mexico gives a rats behind about getting anything back, he just wants to feed his family. However if the line they are feeding the rich kids in mexico is what he says then I think what we are hearing them say on the tv and in speaches about no borders and the original mexico makes sence.
I don't know about where you guys all live but here in San Diego people are really ticked off. I think theres a civil war coming. Not one with guns but one with economic and political shots being fired. I hope I'm wrong.

I never have, but I don't live by Interstate 5. I travel on that freeway maybe twice a year. Still, you used to see it on TV frequently until the border patrol really tightened the San Diego border. Now most cross far into the desert, so freeway crossings do not happen very often.
