It's Tuesday, once again... which means, American Idol (and, more importantly, Chris Daughtry). Tonights theme is "Classic Love Songs." David Foster and Andrea Bocelli were a great team tonight. I wasn't too sure at first... but, I've really enjoyed David's suggestions to the contestants.
Starting off the show tonight is Katharine, singing "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston. Can I just say that she looks STUNNING tonight!!! I think that I would vote for her just based on her outfit tonight. *drool* Nice performance... esp when those buttons popped, and those panties were visible! Okay, okay, okay... back to the actual performance. I think that her voice was so pretty tonight. I loved that she wasn't as 'harsh' in the song, like Whitney. And I really didn't agree with the judges tonight. I don't believe that she was saying, "I'm AS good as Whitney!" Oh well.. she sounded really nice tonight.
Next up on the hot plate, as a dancing chicken, for the viewing and judging pleasure of the three sitting on their asses, is Elliott. Singing, "I'm Singing A Song To You" by Donny Hathaway. (And I think that was sooooo sweet that one of the AI back-up singers is one of Donny's daughters.) I have to admit, I don't know this song. But, it doesn't matter. Elliott has this smoothness to his voice that you can listen to, even if it's singing the ABC's. (Is it me, or does he get better looking each week?) What a good performance tonight... not that I was surprised.
And now, Kellie, singing "Unchained Melody." (She doesn't have anyone to "play pottery" with?) She started out pitchy... and now, I'm waiting to see if that will stay with her throughout the song. I do know that the kittens are running from room to room, howling! (Yes, they can howl like dogs.... I taught 'em!) She's STILL off key, and I'm cringing. WHY can't we just push mute and hear Leann Rimes in her place? She went into that falsetto, and went off key, again! Horrible performance! She is my pick (like that's a big surprise) to go home tonight.
Paris is stepping up now, with "The Way We Were" by Barbra Streisand. I'm SURE that my aunt is glued to the television set right now, as her favorite artist has a song being performed right now. Now, I don't think that Barbra is easy to do... she has this voice of pure silk... but, I think that Paris can pull it off. I love the coaching that she received to soften her voice during a lot of the song. I think that it really went in her favor. That was, as of now, my favorite performance tonight. No, I don't think that it was HER best performance but, this was one of her best.
Okay Soul Patrol... it's Taylor Time. Singing, "Just Once." He sounds off, or down sick. His voice sounds really weak to me... and almost like his nasal passage is clogged up, or something. I don't "feel" anything in this performance. It's just okay. (Sorry Sherry...) And, is it me, or do they cut his hair a little bit more, each week? Next week, he's going to look like Simon!
Can someone PLEASE get the duct tape, and put it on Paula's mouth, TIGHTLY?! WHY does she constantly insist upon interrupting Simon? Simon might be a pompous ass a lot of the time... but, he doesn't interrupt Paula. Damn, that gets really annoying over time.
Finishing up the show (Can I get a *thud*) CHRIS DAUGHTRY. Singing, "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" by Bryan Adams. This is such a beautiful song... and I hope that it will show that softer side of Chris tonight. Oh, you could really hear a difference in his voice, when laying on the floor, and being forced to use his diaphragm. Ohhhhhh, I love his look tonight (as usual) and the two guys with guitars, on both sides. I'm sure that his wife was sitting there, melting into a puddle, listening to her husband singing this song. I love that he brings HIS OWN STYLE into each performance. He is a rocker... and it shows. Yet, he's still got that gentleness that flows from him.
Here's my list:
1. Chris
2. Paris
3. Katharine
4. Elliott
5. Taylor
6. Kellie (I still can't believe I had to sit through that)
