"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." Mark Twain

This show was on Fox for about thirteen episodes not long ago. Was it two years ago? It was yet another brilliant Whedon show, but it got canceled but idiots. It had the best first season of all the Whedon shows, and might have been better all around if it was given the chance.
It's set in the far future when Earth That Was (ours) either no longer exists or just no one goes there anymore. I think it got burned up by the sun, because this is far in the future. A war of independence against The Alliance was lost by the Browncoats, and now every planet in the Universe is ruled by The Alliance. The Captain of Serenity, a Firefly class ship was a sargent in the Browncoats army and has a bitter distaste for The Alliance even though the war is long over. There's a lot to explain, so if you think you'll borrow the series then I won't continue and possibly spoil some stuff for you.
There was a movie in September called Serenty. It picks up where the show Firefly ends and finishes everything. It's an aewsome movie, but don't watch it until you watch the show. I mean it.

I voted for River. She's so cool (and loopy), and by the time Serenity comes around she totally blows it up. Everyone in the cast is pretty cool in their own way, though. It's a combination of everyone that makes it the best sci fi show I've ever seen.

Well, basically true. It was sometimes amusing when she got into it with Malcolm though. If I remember correctly, she was the only woman who could get under his skin.

I voted for Mal.
I thought he was a very good lead character.
Strong, Funny
It is hard to pick from the other characters.
If I had to pick who I would miss the least it would be the doctor.
I think the characters it would hardest to replace with other actors would be Kaylee, Shepherd Book and River but they all fit their characters very well.
