I voted for Kahn but my computer lost Internet capability before I could post why, and then I forgot about this thread.
I voted for Kahn for the simple reason that Lehmann gets riled up easily. Every Premiership forward knows, when facing Arsenal, that Lehmann is an easy target because he does stupid things when he is annoyed.
Kahn, despite two howlers recently, is still one of the worlds best keepers, behind Shay Given, but a world class keeper none the less. He has been Germany's no.1 for years and is still a better keeper than Lehmann. So he does eccentric things, like standing at the half-way line when there is a corner, and he hasn't been at his best recently, he is still the best keeper Germany has to offer.
I don't claim to be the most knowledgeable person when German football is concerned, or where Kahn is concerned, but I would still pick Kahn over Lehmann because he is one of the all time best goalkeepers.
So he's getting on in years, so what? Dave Bessant played until he was at least 42, I think he is even still available for Fulham in a goalkeeper crisis, Teddy Sheringham is into his forties now, Peter Beagrie, Steve Claridge and Dean Windass are still enjoying a great run in the lower devisions, and the great Stanley Mathews was famous for playing for pub teams well into his 70's.
Kahn is 37, the same age as Shaka Hislop ,West Ham's current no.1 and Portsmouth's no.1 before that, also Trinidad and Tobago's no.1 keeper. It doesn't matter what his age is, if he is still fit and can play to the best of his abilities then I see no reason why he should have to play reserve to Lehmann.
