UEFA target the little guy post #1  quote:

OK so heres the deal on Wednesday afternoon at a meeting in Nyon Rangers FC will be dragged before a UEFA disciplinary board to explain the actions of some of their fans.

The charge relates to two things that have happened in recent matches. firstly the singing of sectarian songs by fans and secondly the smashing of the Villareal team's coach window by a Rangers fan ( maybe).

Firstly the Sectarian singing is I admit bad, I go to Ibrox fairly regularly and you will still here it but it is nowhere near as bad as it was five years ago in fact it is normally the non season ticket holders that that sit in one part of the stand that do it. the club has taken actions over this issue with their "bigger than bigotry" campaign by promoting and encouraging the signing of non sectarian songs, removing fans from the stadium and imposing a lifetime ban, removal of season tickets and working in the schools with Celtic FC and the Scottish government to stamp out bigotry. However this has been ignored by UEFA as has the 200 document that David Murray sent o UEFA and FIFA outlining what the clubs has done and will do to stamp out the problem.

Secondly the bus window issue. like the signing of sectarian songs no fan can condone that action, Villareal claim it was a Rangers supporter while Rangers fans claim it was a Villareal supporter trying to start trouble. UEFA have taken Villareals side on this. however in the street where the incident happened there is CCTV which could pick out who threw the stone but UEFA have refused to look at it ( apparently their view on video evidence goes beyond the field of play)

Now while I think the club is doing it's best UEFA want a trial and I am all for that apart for two things firstly UEFA with the backing of FIFA have already made it clear that Rangers are guilty which begs the question why have trail? secondly UEFA are ready to throw the book at Rangers and by throwing the book they mean a massive fine, disqulification from Europe, ban fans from Ibrox, close Ibrox and make Rangers play at a neutral venue with a limit on the number of fans, docking of points or all of the above.

It is the punishment that annoys me so much and I will explain why. Firstly it is Rangers first offence from UEFA and there is doubt as to whether they actually have done anything wrong as the coach issue is inconclusive and the songs are being dealt with. However I ask WHY is it only Rangers? take Inter Milan yes they had closed doors games but were still in the champions league and thier fans assaulted a player. Racism and Nazi support are rife in the Italian game how many Italian teams are being summoned to UEFA? none how many have even been warned? none. Take Spain a measly ?100,000 for disgusting chants about Ashley Cole and then Thierry Henry that's two seperate offences. La Liga is the most racist league I have seen at the weekend the Santander PA ( at the request of the ref) had to ask fans to stop making racist comments toward Etoo, Sadly Etoo gets this every game and what has happend to the teams involved? nothing. And then there's England fans admitidly they have been well behaved but we all remember France and Belgium and all the FA recievd a warning. And thats waht pisses me off look again Spain, Italy England all powerhosues of world football they make the most money and as a result the UEFA blazers would be vewry cautious about harming one of those teams but when it come to a small team (small on the European stage) from Scotland hell they just do as they please. Is that fair at all?

Look at the world cup as you may or may not know FIFA has introuduced new rules on racism, homophobia and sexism. So lets just say that in the group games Swedish fans boo the Engish anthem and vice versa will both teams be docked points. If Italian fans contin ue thier nazi chants will they be disqualified. What if Italian fans start thier Nazi crap and Iranian fans start anti American chants which country do you thin will be hit the hardest by FIFA?

And this is the point if FIFA and UEFA want to be seen to acting on the problems football has it needs to hit the big tems as hard as the small teams otherwise they get awy with murder.

Sorry this is so long but the problem really annoys me and it needs to be dealt with.

I know this is off of the topic of this thread but I had to put it where you could find it easily Lodgebo.

It is reported that Rangers are after the troublemaking, heathearted left midfielder Laurent Robert.

This would be a major disaster for your club as Robert is constantly causing trouble for his manager and club. I should know, he was here at Portsmouth for almost half a season.

IK want to go back to this and show the double standards I have been talking about.

UEFA this week warned rangers that any more bigoted chanting will result in wither the club forefiting games, massive fines the stadium being closed or expulsion from all European competition, there is also the possibility of all of the above happening if it happens again. In the clubs defence they have taken a tough line on the whole issue threating to ban people who sing thi filth from the club for life, removing season tickets, plying songs that are not offensive and wroking in the local area with Celtic on the bigger than bigotry campaign. So in truth they are doing all they can but UEFA seem hell bent on making an example of a club ( a small club of course)

Also this week UEFA allowed AC Milan to play in Europe. This is the double standard Milan have cheated plain and simple for god knows how many years they were found guilty of cheating and were never cleared only had thier punishment reduced, yet UEFA allow Milan back in to the Champions league with open arms because they make more money than a team from Glasgow. Are UEFA that thick do they honestly think that Milan have not been cheating on the European stage as well? And what exactly have Milan done to ensure the cheating will not happen again?

Man it makes me really annoyed all the fans and clubs want .. nay deserve is that everyone is treated the same regardless of size and revenue making.
