Clive Owen, Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster in "Inside Man"
April 18, 2005 - Jodie Foster is the latest star to sign on to "Inside Man" for Universal Pictures. Spike Lee will direct the film from a script by Russell Gewirtz and Menno Meyjes.
According to Variety, "Inside Man" follows a police officer (played by Denzel Washington) who goes up against a clever bank robber (Clive Owen) who's in the process of trying to pull off the perfect heist.
Brian Grazer is producing the film, with production expected to begin this summer. "Inside Man" is the fourth time Denzel Washington and Spike Lee have worked together ("Mo' Better Blues," "Malcolm X," and "He Got Game").
Clive Owen will next be seen in "Derailed" with Vincent Cassel and Jennifer Aniston. Jodie Foster recently completed filming "Flightplan," a dramatic thriller about a child who vanishes in an airplane at 30,000.
Source is old, but not much else about this movie yet.
Saw the trailer before Munich today.
Yeah, the cast (at least one of them) will force me to have to take the day off from work to see the first showing....hmmmmm or perhaps my friends at the Denver Film Sociey will break out and give me a sneak preview...oh, well, either way, can't wait for this one to pop out of the can!
"Inside Man" is the story of a tough cop, Detective Frazier (Denzel Washington), who matches withs with a clever bank robber, Dalton (Clive Owen). As the dangerous cat-and-mouse game unfolds, a wild card emerges: Madaline (Jodie Foster), a power broker with a hidden agenda, who injects even more instability into an already volatile situation.

The Plot: A bank robber (Owen) plays cat-and-mouse with a cop (Washington), who's facing increasing pressure to foil his opponent's intricate plot. The stand-off is further complicated and confused by the arrival of a power broker (Foster) who requests a private meeting with the perp.

THE BUZZ: Does Spike Lee have the restraint to pull off a straight-up thriller? As he guns for his first true commercial hit, everyone involved in the production would have to screw up extra bad to dull this one down. But, uh, isn't the title kind of a spoiler in and of itself? We don't really care, as this tribute to 70's crime thrillers has us more curious than anything in its path.
Review: 7 out of 10 stars: I'll be honest -- I had pretty much given up on Spike Lee. I was dazzled by the fun of She's Gotta Have It and the energy of Do the Right Thing, and happy to bask in Lee's harnessing of Denzel Washington's star power in Mo Better Blues and as Malcolm X...

I think the world would be a better place without Spike Lee in it, but this may be good. Not out here yet, but I'll check it out when it is. Denzel rocks in pretty much everything he's done. Jodi Foster bugs me though.

We rented this flick, last week. Great acting, but I was upset at the small role that Jodie Foster had. She's a brilliant actress, and I wish that she'd had more on screen time.
I loved how he walked out of the bank... and the diamond that Denzel found in his pocket.

man, saw this one a couple of months ago, seriously well told, especially the ending. And yeah, anything with Denzel is almost assured to be decent, this was no exception.
Love is a very powerful force, especially when its formed into a coherent beam of death.
Denzel is just one of those exceptional actors, who gives himself over to the role. (Jodie Foster does the same) He delivers a great character, and doesn't pick just any movie to be in. You can't go wrong with him.
