This movie completely freaked me out. It wasn't even on a subconcious level, it just grossed me out to my limit and had me freaked out all the way through it.
To begin with, we're treated with a whole lot of boobs and such, but then they move onto gore and a little mystery, and the blend of the two just leave you at the edge of your seat.
There's not too much that can be said about the movie without spoiling the premise, but its basically about a group of back-packers going through Europe and being lead to a Hostel where they're told they'll find the easiest, sluttiest women... so they go off to this small town in the middle of nowhere with its own little Hostel. After just a day there, one of their friends goes missing and they start to become a little uncomfortable, and want to get out of there... so they decide to stay one more night, which wasn't really the best of ideas.
A lot of moments in the movie that'll make you squirm, but I think its that uncomfortable feeling of hopelessness which really makes this movie all the more spooky.
Really not recommended for the younger folk though
You know, I THOUGHT about seeing this... but, I don't think that my stomach would really be able to handle it. The trailer clips were more than enough for me. I loved Saw... but, I think that Hostel is way beyond that. Oh, the clip of the toes, about to get snipped off!!!! *shivers*

Hostel goes WAY beyond Saw, that's true. I honestly couldn't recommend it to anyway, even thought I thought it was a pretty good movie... I couldn't watch it again.
The toe cutting thing wasn't so bad, they cut-away before you see anything. However there's a scene involving an eye ball that nobody could ever stomach.

Well, I would personally much rather HEAR about the movie, than see it. That would make me feel like I know the movie, without having to sit through it, if that makes sense.
Even if they cut away from the toe scene.... it is still the thought of it happening to one's self that puts you in that "space"

That's why you bring your partner to movie's like that. So you stick your face in their lap when it gets bad. Though if its THAT gory, you may end up bumping heads on the way down

No, I couldn't do that. Shannon can't stand movies like this, at all. So, it would be me, with her head, in my lap. We would probably end up walking out of it theatre, pretty fast.
