3 College Students Arrested in Alabama Church Burnings post #1  quote:

3 College Students Arrested in Alabama Church Burnings

quote:
Three college students from the prosperous suburbs of Birmingham, Ala., were arrested Wednesday in the burning of nine Baptist churches last month in rural Alabama.

Federal officials said the fires were a prank that spun out of control while the students were deer hunting.

After initially setting ablaze five churches in the county just south of Birmingham, the students burned four additional churches days later in more remote areas, hoping to divert investigators, authorities said.

Benjamin Moseley and Russell DeBusk Jr., both 19 and students at Birmingham-Southern College, were arrested on campus after acknowledging their involvement in the fires to federal agents.

The agents were led to the students by tire tracks at several burned churches, officials said.

Several hours later, authorities arrested Matthew Lee Cloyd, 20, a student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, whose mother owns the Toyota 4Runner that had left the tracks, federal agents said in an affidavit accompanying the criminal complaint.

I know this isn't the most breaking news, as the arrests were a day or two ago, but I didn't see it posted here. I'm wondering, are all of you that were spreading Islamophobic statements about this being Muslims attacking Christians going to take your statements back? Are you going correct yourselves in conversations you've had online and offline to reflect the facts: three college kids in a prank that got out of hand?

I suspected these are the people they'd catch, but it was sickening seeing people try to make connections to some greater campaign of terrorism. However, I expect the same response as with Oklahoma City, people will retreat and just not talk about it attributing it to an isolated incident just because it doesn't go with their anti-Islamic sentiment.

ICB,

I do not recall any posts that suggested or even speculated that the churches were being burned by Muslims to terrorize Christians. Would you please cite some specific examples of the messages to which you refer?

The Writer said this in post #17 :

You don't think there's any relationship to the burning of Christian churches in Nigeria and other countries by muslims? I remember how it was just a coincidence about the DC Snipers...the black muslims that were running around shooting people at random, you know beside the point. Even if these guys turn out to be muslims...that wouldn't prove anything...would it?

The Writer was the one who made the comment.

I am pretty sure the writer was the only one that directly suggested Muslims but let's just say certain people were vocal in thier agreement. Problem is that there is so much anti - islamic garbage posted here now that it takes to long to sift through it all to find a specific statement.

I guess we're supposed to believe it was all just a college prank... a "boys will be boys" episode. To this day the DC sniper killings are still not credited to islamic jihad. just a couple pranksters who happened to be muslim. There may yet be revelations to this story. I remember how it was just a bunch of rowdy "students" that killed the US Marines and took the US embassy in Tehran. Ain't it awful all this unjustified anti-islamic sentiment? I love that protest sign..."Death to all who say Islam is not a religion of peace".

So the boys have admitted to starting the fire and the police have evidence linking them to the fires but you still are trying to blame Muslims for it.

You make me laugh, The Writer. Perhaps these guys are really Muslims or they were kidnapped and forced to do this for some Islamic terror cell. You definitely need to have a date with Occam's Razor.

I don't see that in my post at all. I suppose you can get a whole list of awful things that the muslims didn't do. So what's your point? Richard Pearl is still gone... his head hacked off for islams amusement.

Hey I can buy a bunch of guys starting a fire or two but arson is a solitary game and this was a string of fires over a period of time. Only money, or religous fervor, can explain it. I haven't heard anything about religous affiliations or changes in finances. Why don't you wait until all the facts are discovered before making blanket assumptions. I only know I didn't do it but where were you lodgebo on the evening of the seventeenth?

Did Muslims burn the churches in Alabama down? No.

Take your Islamophobic crap somewhere else.

I like how they reported the motive behind the church fires. Some guys out drinking beer... they burn a few churches... and before you know it, things just spun out of control.

No but what is in your post is the typical Islam bashing that appears in around 99% of your posts. You were quick enough to brnad this as a Muslim attack and when it appears that Muslims were not involved instead of being a man and putting your hand and admitting that you probably got it wrong you instaed started going on about other Muslim attacks which is fair enough but we are not talking about Muslim attacks we are talking about arson in Alabama.

Hey I can buy a bunch of guys starting a fire or two but arson is a solitary game and this was a string of fires over a period of time. Only money, or religous fervor, can explain it. I don't know what you mena by a solitary game if you mean in terms of one person thats exactly true it is heard of for three or four Arsonists to work togethere, ig you mena solitary as in a one off incident again that is wrong police files across the world show the same people will continue to start fires ( there a medical term for it).

You tell me to wait until all the facts are discovered, just like you did I suppose?

Well I know you did not do it if it was a mosque I would have my suspcions. I can however guarntee I did not do it if I wanted to do it there are plenty of churches here that I could burn. I also have an alibi on the seventeenth I was in bed.

This wasn't race or religion related.
Just a couple idiots, "joking" around.
They will now pay for their stupidity. I wonder how this group actually got into college in the first place?

trust me, ya don't have to be that smart to get into college

for some odd reason, while the word "Ganya" was still just a thought-dropping in my head, I thought it'd only be four letters. But apparently it's five. yep.
