Recent Gallup /Cnn poll( before video of Bush is released), 87%
said they were angry about the gov response to Katrina. According to pew poll , 76% of Blacks felt if the victims had been white, gov response would been quicker.
One source of anger is the FACT that FEMA have responded before hurricanes hit on the Florida coast, in areas that are both largely white and politically potent.
Another souirce is media's focus on lawlessness of Victims as opposed to lack of swiftness in delivery of humanitarian assistance
Their anger also grounded in knowledge that this did not happen when the tsunami hit Asia and looting and rioting also occured. Media portrayed event as human tragedy , worthy of our immediate response, complete with former presidents to raise funds.
Are you trying to say the Tsuanmi was not a human tragedy? look I am not going to say Katrina was not a tragedy because it was but you cannot compare Katrina to the Tsuanmi, the poorest people in NO were 100 times richer than some of the richest people in the Tsuanmi areas. There was also very little rioting aftre the Tsunami because anything worth taking was either detsaroyed or washed away.
There was a lot of lawlessness after Katrina we all saw that on the news and only the biggest Bush supporter would deny that that the response to Katrina was unsatisfactory.
In terms of Florida, you have to remember the connections it has with the Pres. As for it being a racial thing, both white and black were affected. Since there was no one RELATED to Bush in NO I'm sure he just sat back and waited for someone else to deal with it, AS USUAL.

HECK said this in post #7 : Regardless of color, I think new leaders are needed in New Orleans.
-HECK!
That can be said for almost every city. Look at the facts: 30 + years without white mayor, 87% of Blacks blame gov, Blacks was 70% of pop. , Blacks were force to Superdome, What pop is being dispersed?..etc
Reality is not colorblind. If you beleive racism exists, race involve in everything . Quick denying it

So you're saying that New Orleans has been without a white mayor for over 30 years and after Katrina, 87% of black people (in America...?) blame the government, and black people made up 70% of the population of New Orleans. I have to ask, are the citizens of New Orleans blaming anything on their mayor?
If I recall, the poorest communities were forced to live in the Superdome, regardless of race. As it happened, the majority of people forced to go to the Superdome were black. Like someone said earlier, it's a money thing.

I know racism exists and I do not deny it does.
An ansysis conducted by Brown University concluded that New orleans could lose as much as 80% of black pop if damaged neighborhoods not rebuilt and if there is not significant gov assistance.
