Sandy June is unemployed post #1  quote:

Hey guys,
I just lost my job at Bank of Oklahoma. I worked there for fourteen years. I am open for suggestions. Anybody have any money making ideas, know of any job opportunities. I am open for suggestions. Just trying to brain storm at this point. I will probably end up back in a cubicle. I just lost my job Friday and I have already filled out an application with Dish Network. I went to TV Guide and Cox cable and found out I need to go on line to fill out apps for them. Of course I have not even applied at any banks yet. I don't want to be a teller. I am thinking about maybe customer service call centers or back office bank opp orations.

I am going to read some of the other threads on here. It is so weird not to be going back to my cubicle Monday. I am scared and kind of excited though all at the same time.

Well, we just watched a special on tv about buying into the franchise, as an owner of a Quizno's, and if I could afford it, I would.

I watch Ellen almost every night on Oxygen. Quiznoe's is giving away a franchise in New Orleans on her show.

I think when I watch Ellen it is a little bit behind what shows during the day. I told David since I am unemployed I should go dance on the Ellen show.

Will somebody edit my above post? I said "I am open for suggestions" twice. It looks really cheesy.

Ellen is always looking for a new girlfriend, I don't want you on that show.

Besides, you need a job where you work in Tulsa.

She has more than a girlfriend.... and she's quite happy with Porsche de Rossi.
So, I think that Sandy June is more than safe, Dave...

Besides, if I'm like Ellen... does that mean that I can't be around your wife?

My own bro... having issues with 'my kind'

I don't know Lawless, Ellen is getting older and older each and every day. And I saw her eyeing Jodie Foster big time a few months ago.

And with age, there seems to be more and more new blood that comes up the ranks. Ellen is no angel when it comes to fidelity and relationships.

But I think Sandy June is safe for the time being, Whidden.

But I wouldn't send her packing to Hollywood...Ellen just might break her rule of thumb.

This is all in jest, folks. Except for ...

Sorry to hear that you lost your job that really sucks. Try and see this as a wonderful opportunity you now have a chance to sit back and evaluate what you want from a job and what you can bring to a job.

Obviously I don't know you that well and I don't what your position was in the bank or what educational and professional qualifications you have but maybe there is the opportuniy for middle management even management. One thing I do know is that the experience you have is a big bonus.

There are also loads of places that can give you a helping hand like employment agncies and places that do that testing ( phsycometric I think) you can ask people if they know of jobs and don't rule out speculative applications there is a strong belief that the best companies and jobs are not advertised, asking cannot hurt.

If you have the ability, cash and the idea's maybe you could work for yourself.

Anyway good luck

post #13  quote:

When I was "laid off" last July (then rehired 3 months later by the same company)...

I took the time as lodgebo suggested to evauluate and assess my self, my desires, and my "true calling" if you will.

I was on unemployment so I was able to afford to take such time. Two - 3 months of introspection and seeking God for what He wanted for me.

Ddin't sent out my resume to the recruiters and what not...or to any I knew would bite until 2 months later. And shazamm, got all the calls a girl would want. But the timing sucked because my dream job came up and I went in for an interview. And the same week my old job offered me another assignment, this time in house. (not a commercial account). And so I had to choose between potentially losing unemployment and not getting my dream job...and risking it all for my dream job.

I played it safe...

Nonetheless....those 2-3 months of introspection and reviving were worth their weight in gold.

And jumping for the next available opportunity usually isn't the best opportunity, as I have experienced.

One day I will risk it all and do exactly what I want to do and exactly what God has called me to do...

Thank you all so much for your advice and your encouraging words. It would be nice to relax for a while. I am so use to going to work everyday that I feel like I should get up in the morning and get to finding a job. I am going to the unemployment office to fill out paperwork there. I think they also have some job search sites they only have access to. I looked through the paper. I found a couple things there but the sites on the computer seem to have more. Taking a week or two off would be nice. I don't know if I can or not. The ideal situation would be finding a job and starting it in a couple of weeks.

There are plenty of things that women can do. Housewife is, of course, number one. You can also wash and sew, and I've heard women make good cooks and nannies.

I feel thousands of eyes glaring at me right now, so I'll stop. I kid! I kid!

I say take it easy for a month or so, every now and then glance at the paper to see if anything tickles your fancy. You could take a course of some sort, if you want. It's nice to better yourself. Watching Ellen doesn't really better you in any way. Better than watching Oprah, though, which I've heard actually is pretty bad for your health.

(Sorry about the job... wish I could actually be helpful)
