The night is kicked off with Taylor Hicks who's going to sing, "Easy" by Lionel Ritchie. I'm looking forward to his performance, because he's so different, and has a great way with pulling you in. I love his comfort on stage, and the way he really just makes you feel at hime when he's looking in the camera. What a great kick off! Awesome, and beautiful, job... his voice was like soft butter being spread on warm bread. I can't say enough about how much I love him tonight. The judges didn't like the song, but wow, I don't think that they were listening to the same song that we were. It wasn't average... but, yes... he can raise the bar. (Oh my gosh... he just said that his first concert, ever, was Lionel Ritchie and Tina Turner. That was MY first concert, when I was 11. We have something in common!)
Elliott Yamin is up next, doing a Stevie Wonder song, and he's sounding sooooooo good. There is something about his voice that just wraps around me when I hear him. This guy is really talented, and I think that we're going to see him next week, without a doubt. His voice was extremely smooth, and pleasant to listen to. He flowed, without a problem, that I could hear. And I have to agree with Simon: He's growing in confidence. I look forward to many more weeks of listening to him.
Ace Young!!!! What else can I say, because I'm on the floor, in a puddle. I don't know WHY he can do this to me... I mean, Brad Pitt is the only guy that's done that... but, Ace *swoon* just tickles a nice spot! He could stand up there and eat the microphone, and I think that I would vote for him! Singing a Daniel Bettingfield song, I'm ready, and waiting, and quivering in anticipation. (side note: I want that beanie) This song is such a beautiful song... and what better man to sing it! *THUD* My goodness, those falsetto notes!!! *triple heartbeat* (Well, I was fine until I saw Brenna put on that beanie)
And now, the biggest smile to grace the AI stage: Gedeon McKinney. I actually enjoyed his song tonight. His voice was really nice, and easy to listen to. He was on key, and just stood up there with ease.
(Is it me, or is there like a reverse of last night? The girls weren't good, for the most part, and tonight the guys are just totally bringing it!)
Cute, little Kevin Covais is up next, singing Marvin Gaye's, "I Heard It Through The Grapevine." (I'm laughing here at his "I'm a sex symbol" comment!) He's got his own thing going on with this song, and it's totally cute. But, that's the thing for me, I like his voice and all... but, it's more "cute" than anything else to me, for some reason. Don't get me wrong... he can sing, and I like him. But, I just don't see him as the American Idol. Paula thinks that he's the next sex symbol? His parents better keep an eye on her! Chicken Little!!!
And now, one of my least favorite, for some reason: Sway Penala. Singing Stevie Wonder (man, that guy should be getting royalities for all his songs being used). He's started, and I'm already wanting to change the channel. I don't know WHY I can't stand him, or his voice. Something just nags me. He's not a bad singer, but he doesn't do it for me. His voice sounds really shaky to me. This was the first performance tonight that I haven't liked, at all. Even Kevin entertained me. So, unless someone is really bad, he's one of my picks to go home tomorrow.
Will Makar is going to sing "Lady" by Kenny Rogers. I love this song... well, when Kenny sings it. (Oh, WHOOPIE... he got to meet Justin Guarani and get a picture with him!) His voice totally trips me out... because I don't expect that from him. I actually like Will tonight, and think that he's doing a decent job. Not the best (I'm saving that for Chris Daughtry) but it's good. He seemed very comfortable up there as well.
Bucky Covington... the true southern guy. Singing Garth Brooks.... (and I have to say, I like his hair better in a ponytail). Dang it... the band is overplaying him, and I can't hear his voice that well. I HATE when that happens. He's an okay singer... but, not, in my opinion, the best six of the guys. (If he gets to stay, I think that he's going to learn a whole lot about 'California eating' because we are much healthier here... less fried food!)
David Radford the "crooner" is now doing what he does best... CROON! I don't like this song. It's annoying, and I've always found it annoying. But, it fits him, and his voice. I can see him going on, because he really does have a talent in that particular genre. Not my thing... he doesn't really pull me in, and I don't think that I would buy an album from him. But, he's cute, and the girls will probably vote for him.
And now, for the best voice of the guys to finish off our night....Chris Daughtry. Singing a Fuel song, which is a band that I really like. Once again, he's done it, and it's my favorite performance of the night. I absolutely LOVE this guy, and his voice. It's raw... and I think that he's going to make it far. His voice has an edge. He get's on the stage, and he just owns the song.
I'm very happy with tonight. They guys were SOOOOOOOOOO much better than the women. And, it started great, with Taylor, and ended with amazingly with Chris. (And let's not forget Elliott in the middle of that sandwich.) I could only get through Chris' line once! I wanted to participate and vote for him!! But, that means that everyone else is doing it too!!!!
Leaving, in my opinion, should be Sway, and Bucky.

Good evening, ladies and gents. Darci Monet here, singer/songwriter/blah blah blah, here's my review. It's time for the guys. And let's hope they bring more to the table than the girls did last night. Is it wrong of me to be wishing I DIDN'T have to watch this show tonight? I'm probably just tired. And now it looks like my two faves are going first and last so I'm in for the long haul.
Shut up Ryan. Put one of the guys up. Don't care about the icky girls night. Let's go.
Taylor Hicks singing a little Lionel Richie/Commodores ("Easy"). Okay, he just cracks me up with all the whoos and such...I can't help but giggle and love him. I don't think it's a song that can really REALLY showcase his vocals like others could, but we don't know what's on that list of available songs to choose from. Now, someone is BOUND to try and smack me down and tell me I'm making "excuses" for him. Nah...cuz he still sounded great and better on that song than ANY other contestant would, but as a soul-ish/rock-ish singer myself, I have wondered how difficult it might be for me to choose good songs for my voice from a list full of uber-pop stuff on that show. I can tell you with certainty that my song choice lists for more than one of my Star Search auditions truly sucked. I ramble. Taylor was still really good. And that's all there is to that.
OH MY GOD THERE'S BO BICE!!!!! HI BO, I LOVE YOOOOOUUUU!
Alright, enough.
Elliot Yamin up next. Okay I don't know this song (though it seems very familiar) but what a wickedly difficult melody, which he appears to be nailing. This dude's voice is just so cool. He could still work a little on some of his performance skills but man, that was some GREAT singing! Stupid Simon, "You're not gonna win with a song like that"...a song like what? A song with more than three chords? A song with an actual melody? A song with a beautiful, meaningful lyric? A song with some actual MUSICALITY to it? Oh bite it, dude. You're the same guy that signed a bunch of opera singers and make them sing Diane Warren songs in Italian. pppphhhhhhtttttttt. Anyway...Elliot rocked.
This show's already leaps and bounds better than last night's.
And now Marky Mark...eeeerrrr...Ace Young singing Daniel Beddingfield. Hmmmmm...this is really shaky at best. He sounds really nasal, although the fact that he has a falsetto was a nice surprise. Till now I figured he just had a five note range. But I just didn't enjoy this song on him. Paula's in love with him. Shaddap. Simon's on it, when he hears it back he'll hear that it wasn't a good fit. But okay...he's still charming.
Gedeon's turn..."A Change Is Gonna Come". I like how old school he sounds...but he seems to have something in common with Katharine McPhee in that he seems sooooo prepared. Oh, there's a shocker, I didn't realize how young he was! Well now I'm more impressed. I enjoyed his performance, but something kept me from loving it totally. But I really have no complaints. He's a natural performer, an excellent vocalist and (take notes here, Brenna) a confident while gracious human being.
Squoooshy Kevin Covais decides to have some fun with "Heard It Through The Grapevine". Oh poor baby, he's so awkward with this tempo...LOL. But he sure keeps pitch better than just about everyone else and he's still just freakin' precious. I can't even stand it. Simon DID shoot a dose of reality in there in that Kevin's...well...I just don't know if he's fit for this business...but he seems to be having himself a dang good time and not taking himself so seriously that he'll break down in tears when he gets the boot. For as long as he's around I imagine I'll enjoy his pure, joyful, young-at-heart and honest performances.
Here comes Sway singing "Overjoyed". The timbre of his voice is very unique and I like it a lot. All in all I enjoyed this particular performance better than last week's because it was nice to hear his real voice and not just all falsetto. He was a little pitchy throughout and as far as performing goes I will never understand that "holding the hand out" thing all the kids do these days, but it was "ai-ight" as Randy would say. Man the judges are HARSH with him tonight! Makes me suspicious that the producers are trying to get the Filippino off the show fast or something. Dang. It just. wasn't. that. bad. At least not for me.
One of the kids are up again...Will Makar singing Kenny Rogers "Lady". It's a very odd choice in my opinion. How's he gonna pull this off? "An DIE love yoooouuuu"...typical high school student voice lesson training! His breathe support for being so young is pretty strong. He's a cutie but that was a drag overall, I think. It was just way old for him. And wow that whole Ryan/Will/get off the stage thing was UNCOMFY. Ouch. Moving along...
Bucky sangin' a lil kuntry...and I can tell you that I am already enjoying this performance a million times more than last weak's from him. What a beautiful tone quality to his voice! This song is a good fit for him. He has a tendency to go sharp when he utilizes that growl, but that's fixable. A really good job tonight. Pretty eyes, too.
David Radford up next with Sinatra. Hmmmmm. Alright. I think an entire album of him would get on my nerves. I feel evil saying that, but I'm afraid it's true. I think I'm spoiled because my friend David Johnson sings those old songs in such a superior way. Nice touch acknowledging the band though, David. But that was it. I wasn't moved. oooh...he looks MAD. Shut up Simon, before he eats your head!!!
Thank God Chris Daughtry's up after the commercial with the first Fuel song to be performend on AI that I'm aware of. I already know he's gonna rock it so I think I'll just go to bed now. Just kidding. I LOVE this song. Too bad the band has NO BALLS WHATSOEVER. :x Dang. That was a missed opportunity for the audience. But that was still hot, perfect for him, he rocked it, his persona is just right, it was head and shoulders above all others, male or female in this competition. Perfect. PER.FECT. If he keeps up like this, no one will be able to catch him for the win. And just so ya know, I typed ALL that right before all three judges agreed with me.
And now at last, I can go to bed.

Darci... I just wanna say that I'm so glad that you've come to INReivew. I absolutely LOVE reading your reviews of each nights show. Thanks for not letting me down, and giving us another great one. (And aren't you glad that you didn't sleep through Chris?)
:::>^..^<::: ~*~The Journey is more important than the end or the start~*~ :::>^..^<:::
A little late, but here is my review. My husband was playing a Call of Duty thing online last night.
Taylor I am a little worried when I hear he will be singing "easy" by the Comodores. I really love the Comodores/Lionel, and I think this is a song that will not show off how great Taylor is. I am lovin' the suit. Dang, he has his own sex appeal. It's getting a bit hot in here whew! Nothing like a confident man who is totally into the music. (Don't tell Mr. F) As expected he wowed me. I loved it. Did you all see Bo Bice stand up in the audience at the end and hollar for him? Too cool.
Elliot He sang "moody's Mood for Love". Wow his voice is like butter. It is a difficult song to sing, and I sat there entranced listening to that beautiful voice.
Ace He was a bit offkey in parts. His song did not showcase him well. It was very bland for me tonight. He's still purdy though.
Gedeon Dude, what is with the faces? Paula must be taking something becuase she said he is "smart with his selections". Hello? This is the guy who sang "shout" last week. It was a good performance, but he is not one of my favorites.
Kevin Poor little Kevin thinks he is a sex symbol now. His parents are adorable. He tried his best, but the song choice was not right. It was again like having Placido Domingo do Christmas carols. Wrong type of song for the voice.
Sway "Overjoyed" is one of my favorite songs, and he just ruined it for me. His voice sounded off like the song was out of his range and he struggled to get it. I have him pegged to go home tonight.
Will Oh look! It's Peter Brady, wait, no, it's just will. So he decided to sing "Lady". I thought he did a good job, but there is something about him that I don't like.
David David, David David, You did not have the charisma to pull it off. I hope he goes home. His performance reminded me of Bill Murray's lounge singer act minus the charisma.
Chirs Now, I will start off that I am not a big Chris fan. I think he has too much vibratto, but dang that boy rocked the house. Way to go Chris!
I also love having Darci here. I look forward to her posts.
Lawless said this in post #7 : Darci... I just wanna say that I'm so glad that you've come to INReivew. I absolutely LOVE reading your reviews of each nights show. Thanks for not letting me down, and giving us another great one. (And aren't you glad that you didn't sleep through Chris?)
YES!!!! He rawked. LOL.
Thanks for letting me post here. I try to get over here as often as I can, but I'm also at the AI message board and my own message board and somewhere along the way I should probably do some responsible things. LOL. I am so glad you enjoy them, though.

Heck, check out Darci's homepage on her profile. She has a great voice. You can hear her sing on her site.
Chris really gave the best performance. He put everything into it, and I think he taught the other boys a lesson- they have to bring their A game every week.
[i] Singing Stevie Wonder (man, that guy should be getting royalities for all his songs being used).
He does. And hefty ones at that, I'm sure.
