Cheasea vs Barca post #1  quote:

Lots of talking points on this one, where do I start? How about before the game even started, the field. It is shameful that UEFA let a champions league match be played on such a surface, I doubt even the MLS would accept it ( I have never seen anything even close in MLS). However, it was a brilliant strategy in Chelseas part. 1 the field negated the ball-handling trickery of Ronaldino and Messi. 2 it was all anybody talked about before the match. Last years incident with Mourinho phoning in his instructions was never even brought up over here.

The sending off was not warranted. The tackle was worthy of a yellow, but a red, no way!

As much as the red affected the game the two missed penalties affected it much more. First was the hand ball by Makalele, his arm was way out from his body in an obvious attempt to block the shot. Second was the rugby tackle by John Terry on Lionel Messi late on. How any ref with one good eye could let that go is beyond me.

As far as I am concerned Barca should have 4 away goals . If Chelsea manage to squeak through it will be a HUGE injustice

I have only seen the highlights because I just watched Rangers get screwed by the new offside rule anyway had to get that off my chest.

As for Barca what I saw they looked okay the pitch was bad but two gaols came from dead balls and the pitch does not have an affect. As for the sending off I got see it from the refs viewpoint and it looks worse mainly because Del horno is ahead of the ball and it therfore looks like he left the bal and went for Messi. I missed the Makelale penalty but I did see the Terry one and yes it's a foul but it is not intentional if you get to see it again you will see Terry is always watching the ball and I dobu wethere he saw Messi mind you if irt happend at the other end the ref would probably have given it.

I think Barca will win the tie ( unless the offside rule screws them over to) they have two away goals which menas Chelsea have to attack, the pitch is longer and wider that the Bridge which give Barac more space to exploit esp if they want to counter and finally I see Barca play nealry every week and they always look like they will score.

The pitch did have an affect on the game. In the first half play was slow, sloppy , and disjointed. More than a few times the ball would take a weird ''hop'' and destroy any cohesiveness to the game. That is until the red card. Suddenly at that point the game became energized and exciting. Funny how that happens some times

Man was it not great to see Chelsea get a masterclass in possesion football.

I was watching the highlights and I am sure that for minute Jose was going to admit the best team won, when he said that the ref was exceelent I was shocked but alas back to the same Jose who claimed that Barca can't Chelsea 11 v 11 and I think he was also saying that if Chelsea were in the G14 they would not have had men sent off

this siege mentality that Chelsea are using is I think going to backfire, it can work but Chelsea have gone to far with it now.

On a side issue I just want to give a big thumbs up to Rangers, i was in Villareal and did not deserve to lose they ran all over Villareal first half and gave as good as they got second half. had it not been for a lapse in concentration for two minutes and a cheating Goalkeeper we would have been in the pot.

I only saw the highlites, no CL coverage yesterday or today

I did see the interview on Sky sports. I love how no mention is given to the penalties that Barca shouldve had in the first leg. Jose is lucky I am not with the soccer press, as I would bring it up in a heartbeat
