Futurama Direct-to-DVD Features post #1  quote:

According to Billy West's official website (on the forum), the green light has been given for 4 direct to DVD episodes of Futurama. They'll start recording July/August, and they probably won't be available until 2007... but still very exciting stuff.

From what I've read, this has been changed to an order for 13 new episodes, to come late in 2007. All cast members are returning.

13 is a helluva lot better than 4. About a half-season worth, that'll work for me. Can't wait. Sucks they can't come back to TV. Even Comedy Central or Cartoon Network, why not?

I beleive Comedy Central will be funding and showing the new episodes.

These are 13 normal length episodes. The 4 direct to DVD episodes were all going to be about an hour long, if I remember correctly... so wouldn't have been too bad.

I did just read it's supposed to be 2008, though... not 2007 I guess it does take that long... it was 2 years between the announcement that Family Guy was returning and any actual episodes being aired.

But then, Futurama rules any other cartoon you can find. I hate to say it, but it even ball-kicks about 50% of the Simpsons episodes.
