Second Narnia instalment announced
The next big screen instalment from the books of CS Lewis - The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - has been announced with the return of the four young stars who play the Narnia children.

British actors Georgie Henley, 10, Skandar Keynes, 14, Anna Popplewell, 17, and William Moseley, 18, will reprise their roles as the Pevensies.

Andrew Adamson is back as director following the New Zealander's success with the first film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Production is set to begin later this year for the movie to be released during Christmas 2007.

The first film, based on the book by CS Lewis, has taken more than 637.8 million dollars (£359 million) at the worldwide box office so far, and £156 million in the UK.

The movie received three Oscar nominations earlier this week, but none for any of the major awards.

Adamson, who made his name with the Shrek films, said: "Prince Caspian not only gives me an opportunity to challenge my imagination with another classic story, it also allows me to work alongside the many talented artists who contributed to the first film, and of course to collaborate again with The Pevensies, Georgie, Skandar, Anna, and William."

Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook said: "Moviegoers around the world were unanimous in their love and enthusiasm for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian offers lots of new thrills and adventures in this magical land."

Prince Caspian finds the Pevensie siblings pulled back into the land of Narnia, where a thousand years have passed since they left.

I'm still reading them. They are written at that childrens level, and it's fun to read, but I can only take maybe 4 or 5 pages of it, and have to quit.

I'm on book 6 right now.

The imagry in them is awesome. Plus reading them as a kid, I forgot the whole storyline, but get deja vu all the time while reading it.

Which is a glitch in the Matrix.

So their jumping straight to Prince Caspian again.

I was hoping that they would try the Horse and his Boy. The BBC ignored it and it looked like this new lot are going to ignore it as well.

It as pity really. The Horse and his boy is a very good story but people dont want to make a movies version of it for some reason.

Just interested in what everybody throught of the movie adaptation? Personally I didn't like it. Such a shame as it's such a fantastic series of books, but it didn't capture any of the magic of the book. Similar thoughts anyone, or is this just me?

I loved the Horse and his Boy. That was a great book, but it does not surprise me that they went for the flashier Prince Caspian.

I found out recently on wikipedia that Disney and Walden media have reserved the rights to make 'the Horse and his Boy' at a future date if they want to. So perhap they will be a movie by that name in the Future. One can only hope.
