"Schwarzenegger's decsion is a cowardly decision" - volker beck germany
" Williams ha\d converted and, unlike mr. schwarzenegger, opposed every form of violence- (richard schadauer chairman of crisitianity and democracy)
" even a criminal is worthy of respect because he is a human being. the death penalty is a negation of human dignity.- (cardinal renato martino pope benedict XVI's top official)
"schwarzenegger has a lot of muscles, but apparently not much heart"- (julien dray french socialist party)
"dehumanization. the execution of tookie wiliams is even more intollerable exactly because he had managed to transform the negative into the positive"- franco danieli Italian politician)
Amnest Internation condemned the execution
Anyone find condemnation from israel? scotland? britain? please add.
First off NO, no condemantion from Scotland mainly because we are not arrogant enough to tell others how to run thier legal system. Secondly the guy was a murderer plain and simple he knew what his punishment may be so you take the risk (honeslty malcolm we have been through this RE Sinagpore)
Secondly you mention Europe but go on about Israel also look again at your qotes where are the actual condemantions from the leaders of France, Italy etc where are the condemnations from 25 leaders of Europe or the EU as a voice for all 25? look at what you got for your Europe wide outrage 2 relgios groups ( admittdley 1 is the popes PA), 1 newspaper editorial, and 2 politicians acting on US resentment in an elections year. The stadium is a small issue and I bleieve Arnies lawyers wanted it changed when he became governor a few yearsd back.
The fact is little condemantion for a murderer.
Honestly though, the US Judicial system, especially in cases of capital punishment, has so many exhausting checks and balances that the validity of the charges weren't in question. They're trying to crack on how we punish capital criminals. The pacifists abroad can toot their collective horns, hold hands and sing a pretty song, but that's not going to stop people from killing each other. The punishment more than fit the crime. And if another country wants to shake their finger from across the pond I say let them. Because when they need help I hope we shake another finger at them. I'll let you guess which one.
Let me see... he murdered people, capital punishment isn't fit? He got what he deserved.
How about caning a kid for spray painting on a car, in another country, and he wasn't even from there. He was visiting that country. Or, how about beheading wives for not covering themselves, or something.
Yeah, the US really dishes out HARSH punishments, that don't fit the crime.
And Heck, I can wave my "special" finger, with you, to those other countries. <-- won't be that one!

Not that I agree with it, but you know how people try to sue gun makers for gun related deaths? Why wasn't Tookie charged retroactively for all the murder and mayhem the gang he found started? Nazi's were sentenced and executed for their 'gang'. I know it's by no means as extreme, but I think you get what I'm saying.
