So the nominations come out January 31st and I CAN'T WAIT.
There's already a few that I have as picks, including Brokeback Mountain which was an AWESOME movie. Crash of course for screenplay. And I still have many to see before the big night.
Does anyone else have any favorites?
Is anyone else as geeked out as I am when it comes to these?

I want to see Crash do well since it's the only 'Oscar calibre' film I've seen so far. Although 40-Year-Old Virgin not getting nominated for Best Picture will be a sham.
I still want to see that Russell Crowe boxing movie.
Kind of tired of all the hype about Brokeback Mountain, makes me not want to see it.
you already said you didn't want to. it's good. real good. and a tear jerker.
i wanna see history of violence. heard that's hella good.

Munich is on par with Doctor Zhivago in my opinion...meaning it's just about the best movie I have ever seen.
Hollywierd doesn't like Spielberg much...even though he deserves the oscar for it...
there is a thread in the drama forum on this movie.
Brokeback really wasn't that great of a movie...it was the story and the subject matter that broke into new territory cinematically. The scenery was beautiful...but it would have been the same with a child using a digital camera...there isn't much to mess up there.

I think Star Wars got freakin' ripped off, no nomination for Best Visual Effects
I call BS.
Glad Mat Dillon got nominated, I called that. With all the hype I am surprised that Walk The Line wasn't picked, but the fact Munich was doesn't surprise me. Hollywood loves Speilberg-o.
I read it's the first time since '81 that all 5 Best Picture nominations have their directors nominated, too.
Atleast Crash made it to best picture. That's awesome. It totally deserves it.
But.... michelle williams for supporting actress? um... WHY? she wasn't THAT great in the movie. She acted just like she did when she was Jen on Dawson's Creek!

illuminate said this in post #10 : Atleast Crash made it to best picture. That's awesome. It totally deserves it.
Maybe its just me but I thought Crash wasn't that great. It just left me to wonder what it was all about. It had too many characters and too many actions.
My facial expression after watching that picture was:
It should win Worst picture at the Razzies.
You must turn on, tune in and drop out.

I find that people who have seen Crash either LOVE IT or HATE IT.
I personally loved it. for those of you who hated it... i just don't understand you.
I thought it was done well - especially since there were a lot of characters and a lot that intertwined and a lot of this and that to remember. I thought it all came together well though.

yeah no, i don't think it'll win either. It's too small of a film. I don't know, the writing was good though. Its my pick for OG screenplay.
