I voted it was good. The word "awesome" would be reserved for the one represented by Aslan.
I really enjoyed one of the songs in the soundtrack. The song played while the kids were moving through the snow covered forest. The song was very "Enya-esque." I am going to buy the soundtrack today.
I was afraid from the previews that the special effects appeared fake. But seen from within the context of the movie, the land of Narnia had an other worldly feel to it where these effects fit in quite nicely. The land had a special "shine" to it. Whereas in the movie Lord of the Rings, it was fantasy, but was filmed in a way that looked realistic to the eyes. Narnia had a "shine" to it, you could see that a special lens filter was used in the Narnia scenes that was not used in the "present day" scenes.
I did see the spiritual aspects of the movie, and will open a thread about them.
I saw it last night. Awesome. Made even funner because my friend went in a Lion suit, my brother and I sweet-talked the ticket lady into giving us tickets, and nearly 30 of my friends were there to cheer at the cool moments. Might go again today with friends who couldn't get in.
"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." Mark Twain
I thought those beavers in the movie were sooooo ADORABLE.
I kept laughing and chuckling the entire time they were onscreen. They bounce across the snow like rabbits.
I went to the Christian warehouse outlet near my house and they had on their flyer that the Original Soundtrack was out Dec. 6. But, nope. It won't be out until Dec. 13, Tuesday. For once, I didn't throw a tantrum in a store when they don't have what I want. It's just not the "Christian" thing to do, but I did have to bite my lips.
Lawless, the one you have, I believe may be songs inspired by the movie.
And I do love those songs....they play them on the Spirit channel on Sirius satellite radio often.
The original sountrack will be a CD/DVD set and includes a song by Alannis Morissette...I like the lyrics of her song. Narnia Soundtracks
The song that I loved so much...I would guess it is called "From Western Woods to Beaversdam" but I'll find out soon. Going straight to the store after work Tuesday.
There were people dressed up at the showing lastnight. One of the guys we could not figure out. He was dressed in a white cape, pants, shirt, a white tophat and carried a sceptre. He also had white long hair. That wasn't even a character in this movie. And it was so funny because my other friend named Tara too, well, he really creeped her out. And he sat right next to her in the theatre. Of the 700 or so seats in that huge theatre, he sat right next to her.
I missed the last 35 minutes or so of the movie. Damon just did not want to see Alsan "die" on film. It was odd because he knew it would happen, yet he chose to leave then. So we went out into the mall and petted puppies while Ron saw the rest of the movie. I think he thought the scene would be gross. We read the real book for it, but for some reason, he chose to bail. That's fine with me. Mr. F. enjoyed it. I loved what I saw. The beavers were a hoot!
now that i've seen it, it was good. some parts of it just struck me as cheesy, partially because i'd forgotten that its a childrens story at heart, as opposed to LOTR which is not. i did very much like the visuals and soundtrack though, as well as sticking to the story.
Love is a very powerful force, especially when its formed into a coherent beam of death.
FINALLY!!! We're going to see this movie, tomorrow, with our best friends family. Can't wait!!! I've been looking forward to this movie for some time now.

To review this movie I afraid that I must compare certain parts with the old BBC series.
Firstly I would like to say that it was one of the best movies I have seen recently however some things are not quite as good as the original series.
For example, Professor Digory Kirke in this movie (played by Jim Broadbent) is not as good as the one from the original series (played by Micheal Aldridge). The main reason is that he isn't featured enough and the scene where he meets the children is cut in this movie.
Aslan and the talking beast and all the creatures featured in this movies are exceptionally well done. They are very believable, as far as talking creatures go.
I particularly enjoyed the wolfs parts of the movies. I really jumped when Edmund tried to step over the wolf at the Witches house and the chase down the Beavers tunnel was a welcome addition to the original story.
All in all I thought it was a good movie and wouldn't mind seeing it again, or seeing a sequel
"there's only one way to win a war: shout, shout, and shout again!" - The Duke of Wellington ((Blackadder - Stephen Fry))
I was very happy with most of it, the effects were cooler than I thought they would be.
Had a good time seeing the different views of what the crazy critters looked like. I liked the Griffin and the Minotaur and the wolves.
I didn't like the fauns so much. I loved the forests, and the plains, and the visuals.
I thought that the actress who played Lucy was the best part of the movie. She did the best job of anyone.
As for the others, Peter Susan and Edmund, I just thought they were poor actors.
I started getting irritated by the mournful "knowing" looks between Susan and Peter.
The acting was so bad, it got weird. I liked them both in the book, but in the movie, I found them odd and unlikable.
Lucy was awesome. Hard to believe that the same casting director picked the other 3 child actors as picked her.
The CGI was noticeable, but it seemed to fit with the movie.
I found the movie moved well, I was never bored, I wish they would have tried to make Peter use the sword a little, instead of just hanging it out like a dweeb.
The Beavers were awesome, very funny.
I loved the witch, she was a good actress, she didn't overdo it. Just played it, and she did the nice parts well, and the evil parts well.
I liked the effects with the stone people, those were good.
The grown up children in the white stag scene were good pics. Though Peters outfit made him look like a Dandy.
I was happy with how true they stayed to the book.
I voted "good", not awesome, because it just lacked something, what it was, I don't know.
If I compare it to Harry Potter, Hp is way better, the effects, the writing, the screenplay, the acting. Narnia just almost made it into greatness, but the chemistry was wrong with the kids and the screenplay wasn't that good.
I want to see it again, it's a good movie, just not GREAT, if for nothing else to get to see the battle scenes again. They were cool.
Oh, one final gripe, and it may be just me, but growing up I was taught it was rude to make eating noises while you eat and have always been grossed out by that.
When Edmund was eating the Turkish Delight, instead of a scene where it was this great mystery food I have envisioned my entire life,
it was a gross-out disgusting face stuffing contest, with eating sounds and licking noises and that nasty red crap all over his face.
I know they were trying to make him look like a pig, but it grossed me out, I had to turn away and shut my ears.
But I'm kind of squeamish that way.
Oh, yeah, the witch's throne was cool, I want one like that.
