Hurricane Rita is now a Cat 5 storm. Janis Dean from Foxnews Weather says it is a text book storm with perfect symmetrical circle eye wall. We all thought Katrina was the perfect storm. Rita IS the Perfect Storm.
yeah maybe, so far the computer programs are showing it hitting at several different spots, Galveston, Mategorda, and Freeport being the main ones. currently on the NOAA site, it shows Rita hitting south of Houston, but its still anyones guess as to where exactly it will come ashore. I've been following it for awhile, and everyday the location changes, so who knows.

My rich oil friend originally from Houston, said in church today that his relatives from Houston called to let them know that they tried to leave, but have no gas for their car, and that the gas stations are out of gas.
Many people are stuck in Texas, those who would have had a means to leave.
Well Bush declaired it a state of emergency so the government should be doing everything in it's power to help. I'm sure there are like 2,000 busses pulling in as we speak, with trucks, vans, and trailers traling them with supplies. They only need to get a few hours further inland to be generally safe.

Declaring a state of emergency means money, it opens up the government check book for aid in the evac process, it also pre positions FEMA and the National Guard in that it provides funds for them to pre position.
cars are literally running out of gas on the freeways out of town. they've been trying to open up all lanes as outbound lanes, but so far no go. its a mess.

Thank goodness. Hopefully Houston and Galveston won't suffer too bad and it will continue to weaken. It looks massive, i just hope New Orleans is spared!!!
