Anyhow, I think the "others" are just another of perhaps many groups that get strandad on the Island.

Up till now, they all find ways to dodge "the creature/security device thingy" and make do.

Whatever is in the hatch leads to whatever is bringing peeps to the Island.

Whatever it is, it has advanced tech stuff, maybe advanced enough to send ESP mindwaves junko science thingys to draw peeps to the Island.

(Hurleys numbers, etc.)

Why they or it would want people to come, only to pick them off with the creature is beyond me.

The creature spares some, like Lock. So if your heart is pure or whatever, you get to stay.

So, I have said nothing new, but I think it will be the Islands main authority figures down there, the ones controlling events.
