I for one loved it. This is coming from someone who sings "I want the world" all the time. anyhoo, JD was wickedly wacky in the movie. He was great. The kid that played Charlie was great too. Grandpa Joe was a hoot.
I loved it. Now I seriously want to rent a dog, walk around holding the leash with just my fingers, and say out loud, "Did you hear? The fifth ticket was found by this kid in Russia!" JD was fantastic as Wonka. I am a Gene Wilder fan, and I thought he was wonderful, but the way this movie was done was a lot better than the way the first one was done.
"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." Mark Twain
I voted "it was okay". I'm not sure why, but I just wasn't overly thrilled with the movie. It was basically okay, all the acting was great... I think the oompa loompas ticked me off just a tad too much.

Hmm... I remember posting here before, but it doesn't seem to have taken anyway, I probably said something to the effect of thinking it wasn't that great. All of the acting was fantastic, though. I think the problem lied in the script or the direction. It was pretty amusing, but the screenwriter could've stepped that up a bit. And all that crap about Willy Wonka's father was just nuts.
I did enjoy it regardless... just not as much as I expected.
