Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie have both reportedly signed to do a fourth series of the Simple Life. Although the two former best best friends have been feuding since filming finished on the third series of the show, they have agreed to one last series.
Rumours that Kimberley Stewart was to take over Nicole's place in the series seem to be partly true with "talks" having taken place and Kimberley Stewart saying she would have loved the opportunity but that she understood that they wanted to stick to the original format.
No word yet on the theme of the Simple Life 4, but rumours include the girls planning their repsective weddings and preparing for future married life and parenthood.
Paris Hilton Says She's Still Shooting 'The Simple Life' Because Other Networks Want It
CULVER CITY, Calif. Oct 17, 2005 — Paris Hilton says she isn't giving up "The Simple Life" just yet. "We're shooting Nov. 1," said the 24-year-old hotel heiress, who had a front-row seat at the Louis Verdad fashion show Sunday. "All the networks are fighting over it."
Fox said last week it had canceled the reality show starring Hilton and Nicole Richie. The network said its midseason schedule didn't have a time slot for a fourth season of the show, prompting speculation the feuding ex-friends no longer proved compatible.
Hilton said she and Richie will continue working on "The Simple Life" because other networks want it.
Last week, 20th Century Fox Television, the studio that produces the show, said it hopes "The Simple Life" will move to another network with Hilton and Richie.
"We believe this series … is still a dynamic and valuable franchise," the studio said. "We hope to be able to announce a new network partner in the coming days."
Bunim-Murray Productions, which produces the show with 20th Century Fox, also released a hopeful statement: "We're very excited about the creative plans for the next group of episodes, and are confident this situation will be remedied quickly."
Hilton's friend Kimberly Stewart, Rod Stewart's 26-year-old daughter, dismissed as "rumor" reports that she had been touted as a replacement for Richie.
But Stewart was coy about doing a future project with Hilton, telling reporters Sunday, "You never know."
In April, Hilton issued a terse statement saying it was "no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it."
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Nicole Richie says it's unlikely she will kiss and make up with former reality TV co-star and ex-best friend Paris Hilton in the near future.
Fox TV has canceled the fourth season of "The Simple Life" citing scheduling problems. However, there is widespread speculation Fox's decision had more to do with its feuding stars than anything else.
In the November issue of Jane magazine, Richie reveals the rift with Hilton has actually been going on longer than reported, MTV.com reported Thursday.
"We really haven't been friends in probably about two years," she said.
Hilton turned the end of their friendship into a media event, appearing on a host of talk shows last April and telling print interviews the friendship was kaput. Richie, however, remained silent as Hilton aired their dirty laundry.
"I know that Paris loves to talk about it and that stuff, but that's just not my style," she told Jane.
As for a reconciliation between the former friends, Richie said: "No, not at this point.
Hotel heiress PARIS HILTON has reportedly addressed her feud with NICOLE RICHIE on a track to be featured on her debut album.
Hilton, whose long-term friendship with her SIMPLE LIFE co-star ended earlier this year (05), is planning to release her project in December (05) - and pals say it includes a very cutting song aimed at Richie.
The track talks about how Richie used Hilton and how she would never be famous without the party-loving blonde, according to a pal, who adds, "As she was playing it to me, she was just laughing and said, 'This one's all about Nicole!'"
A representative for Richie says, "We can't comment on it because we haven't heard it."
While a spokesperson for Hilton does confirm that the album will include a song about jealousy, she insists that nobody is named on the track.
Why do people put out songs that are OBVIOUSLY about someone else and then deny it? Is it a publicity gimmick? Must be. Who started it? Carlie Simon probably did with "You're So Vain" and not telling anyone (well one person) who the song was about, but recently we've had Lindsay Lohan and Hillary Duff having a go at eachother in their albums and Ashlee Simpson and Lindsay Lohan too, plus the fake songs es from Eamon and Frankie. Nicole Ritchie will no doubt put a song on her new album where she "secretly" has a go at Paris.
Miss Nicole Richie was on 20/20 last night as part of her media blitz to talk about her new book, The Truth About Diamonds, and (quite simply) to just promote her fabulous self.
And, amongst the many things she discussed, Nic finally candidly spoke about what caused the rift between her and Paris.
Richie told 20/20 the rift isn't tied to a specific incident or rivalry and that contrary to the widely circulated rumor, she did not show Hilton's infamous sex tape to friends when Hilton was asked to host SNL without her.
"Do you know, there is nothing that really happened. We have just grown apart. And, you know, we are just no longer friends," she said.
However, 20/20 reported that the real reason for the rift may have been financial.
"Nicole felt that she was bringing as much to the table in, in 'The Simple Life' as Paris was. So why is Paris making $5 million a year and not me?," People magazine's executive editor, Peter Castro, told the news mag. "I think a lot had to do with rivalry and jealousy on both ends."
Richie dismissed the speculation about their friendship's demise, saying, "The rumors just fuel controversy. I am sure it stirs up controversy - which I am sure she loves - but, you know, I really have nothing bad to say."

Despite their falling-out Paris and Nicole is set to continue production on the fourth season of The Simple Life. And we can't wait to watch every second of it, regardless of what network it's on.
Life Beyond 'Simple Life'
Whether "the simple life" endures for another season or not, Richie seems to be firmly established as an A-list celebrity.
She's a regular on magazine covers. She's appearing in the new film "Kids in America." She's working on an album. She's written a novel. And she announced her engagement to Los Angeles disc jockey Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM.
Richie's book, "The Truth About Diamonds," parallels her own life. It's the story of the daughter of a hot music star, who lands a TV show and finds happiness after a well-publicized drug addiction.
Adopted by music superstar Lionel Richie and his then-wife Brenda, Richie grew up in the lap of luxury. But she remembers seeing little of her famous father.
"I would always beg my Dad not to go to work, because work for him meant that he would be gone for months at a time, because I grew up in the '80s, and that was the pinnacle of his career. So him going to work was, was hard," she said.
And things got even more difficult. When she was 9, her parents went through a bitter separation after her father had an affair with another woman.
In her novel, Richie's main character begins using drugs as an escape. And she acknowledges that's something she understands.
She said her drug habit began very casually. "You know, pot at 13, which, in my circle, was very normal and drinking every once in a while, but that wasn't really my thing. And then I started getting into cocaine at like 14 or 15. And then I stopped. And, and went to heroin, at about 19, I believe," she said.
In retrospect, Richie said, "I was pretty out of control. And considering the fact that I probably don't remember half of what happened to me, I can only imagine how out of control I was."
Ironically, just days before she was scheduled to check into rehab for help, police found heroin in the car she was driving. "It kind of didn't make sense in my mind at the time. This is the one time I am not doing anything wrong. But I think that it was kind of a sign. A little reminder of like, 'this stuff really happens to people,'" she said.
Richie completed rehab, was put on probation and began her new life with a hot TV show.
But Richie now had a weight problem. She had put on pounds in rehab, but then underwent a dramatic weight loss that led to speculation about her health and whether she had returned to drugs.
She said she's remained drug- and alcohol-free since leaving rehab. And she insists the weight loss was gradual and that she's simply dropped the extra weight with the help of a personal fitness trainer.
"I have been called too fat. I have been called too skinny. I have been called too short. I have been called wild. You know, I mean, I can't, I can't even keep up with the things that people say. So I just, I just don't. I choose not to," she said.
Still, as with her famous flap with Hilton, rumors persist. And Richie just tries to ignore them.
"I know the truth, and my family knows the truth, and my friends know the truth, and just like drugs, you know, if, if there was a problem, then I would step up to the plate and take care of whatever I needed to take care of, and that's the way that I live my life," she said.
Some credit Richie's turnaround to her romance with Goldstein. The couple announced their engagement in February.
He too is a recovering addict, finding a new life after losing 150 pounds through gastric-bypass surgery. "They had a common hardship and that is sort of the mortar of a lot of relationships. And they had a lot in common going in. He has really settled her down and I think it's sort of like the kind of serenity that she's never had before," said People's Castro.
It's hard to imagine the young socialite falling in love and settling down.
She said it's hard to describe how their friendship grew into love, but she says she's smitten. "If you spend five minutes with him, you'll know in a second. He's just that person. He's just very charming, and there's something about him that makes you fall in love with him," she said.
Richie said she's happy where she is now, and is glad to have pulled herself out of the downward spiral of drugs and rehab.
"I just consider myself really lucky that I got through everything. And I couldn't have done it alone, you know, I have my parents, and uh, a lot of great people around me, and I just feel very lucky."
