Gene Wilder apparently gave an interview about the new film. For those that dont know, Gene Wilder is Willy Wonka from the original 1971 film. He stated...
"I think its a ridiculous idea, why remake another Willy Wonka, when we already have one? The 71' film is a classic, you dont need another shelf movie. I understand Johnny Depp and Burton are working together, which is an awsome team, but why take the chance of ruining a classic movie? I just dont like the idea of it all, I do respect Burton in his work, lets hope it turns out good."
Gene Wilder also had other things to say about the film, I cant find at the time. But it sounds like he might be a little jealous of the new film? I do understand his point about it being a classic, but thats what Hollywood does, they remake movies! Like he said, lets hope it turns out good, Burton hasnt ever failed me yet, so atleast they got a decent director taking over.
